Half full or half empty.. you be the judge. LSU's Jefferson inconsistent, but still off to impressive start | shreveporttimes.com | The Times Or how about this one? Jefferson off to best start at LSU since Davey | thenewsstar.com | The News Star Both pretty good articles. We may not be in as bad of a spot as it seems. If the O-line settles down I think the 'issues' people are thinking we have with Jefferson will fade as well. It's just a matter of how soon that happens.
I was actually talking about the parallel's with Matt Mauck the other day to a buddy of mine. By game 5 that year (his sophomore year), he was gangbusters. It was like everything suddenly clicked.
Jefferson has had plenty of playing time now. He started 2 games last year, a huge part the Arkansas game, portions of the Troy game, and has started 3 games this year. He is still young but you can't quite call him a rookie anymore. As far as I am concerned it's his position until after the Florida game, if we see no improvement then you have to start thinking of other options. That is of course if the OC doesn't continue to throw him under the bus.
Continue to throw him under the bus? What on earth are you talking about..? His stats are fine -- he's statistically 'up there' with Tebow, Colt, etc. He's checking out of plays and recognizing coverage. I think he's doing outstanding so far. There are a few problems that need to be fixed.. and they're being worked on.
Stats... the stats for the offense are horrible and the competition isn't exactly the best. I don't give a crap about stats. I want to see a team, I want to see team ball... that doesn't mean they have to win by 40 but there is no unity and no team chemistry at all. The OC is throwing him under the bus because he is basically telling the world and the opposing defense what play is going to be called... everyone can see what is going to be called with the formation and personal substitution. I don't know how someone can look at it any other way. I am not ripping on JJ, to me he hasn't been given a chance but as this goes on I doubt he will. The OC sucks... there I said it. He should have huge que cards with "SCOTT IN I UP THE MIDDLE" on it and then one with "WILLIAMS IN, OPTION PITCH COMING ON THE END" and when it's a passing formation... "WR SCREEN"
Have you watched the media vids on LSUsports? There's team unity AND chemistry. FYI we've played better competition than nearly every school out there (a few have us beat, but not many). We've got a road win against a ranked OOC opponent.. but yes, we've won ugly.. but a win is a win is a win. I seem to remember winning ugly and these same types of complaints in 2007. How about next game thread you predict the call during the play by play. I'd wager you'd be wrong quite often. And I don't mean "run" or "pass".. I mean tell us what kind of play we're going to run. It got the job done.. isn't that what is important? Reserve judgement until you see what we do when the game is actually on the line
I never denied LSU won. IMHO there is no team chemistry or flow or anything. Just my opinion. He telegraphs about 80%+ of the play selections. He switched a couple of up last game, he went with a deep pass play with Scott in the game and they threw reverses in there for LaFell which nobody bit on and there was one play if I remember correctly that Holliday was in the game and he didn't get the ball. Other than that it was by the Crowton game play book with personnel substitutions and formation showing which plays he is going to call. It got the job done in 2007 because he was new, after 2.5 years it's very obvious what is going to be called or a selection of calls based on personnel in the game and the formation. My judgment on the OC was made over the last 2.5 years. I see no reason to believe he is going to change in the middle of the season and if he did why didn't he do it during the Spring. Just my take, just my opinion on the matter.
You seem to be the only person throwing anyone under the bus And you even said that some things changed last game... hmmmm....
I believe we have chemistry and flow. So we score on the other 20% and the defence plays like it has we should go undefeated. I believe it worked because we had a 5 year senior working the offence and was more comftable bout learing a new system. excutation is everything. I also believe that is RP wouldve stayed these bumps would be less.
