Who is going to be our starter from game one next year? I know we're all talking about other stuff but I'm just wondering what y'all think. I think we HAVE to start RP. I don't know how Flynn will take it, being jumped, but I just don't think we can keep sitting such a big time recruit. I desperately want to see him vs top notch SEC competition. I'm totally willing to admit I'm wrong about him if he turns out to be a dud, but I want to see him get his chance, and I think he needs it as soon as JR is gone. Also, how many eligible years will he have after the end of this season?
Look, I realize my desire is probably unpopular but at least elaborate on your disagreement or apparent disgust at my question and opinion. I will say, one reason I can think of starting RP being a bad idea is to not risk screwing up a season that looks perfect for.... well, going perfect.... yes, he's unproven
I would like to RP start as much as the next guy, and I do think we should start him next year. But I don't think it will happen, I think at best it will be after Flynn has his first bad game and RP comes in and shines. Question is "How long before Flynn has that bad game?"
Well got dam Doc, if you already got our lineup and all for next year, you need to know those things.  Hell, shows how much I know, I thought Flynn was highly recruited too. :yelwink2:
You have to make up your mind or I can't agree or disagree cause now I'm not sure if you're starting him or not. Just picking dude......I am a smart ass and you left it hanging in the wind on that one. :thumb:
smell that smell? --it's the peanut gallery--and they're talking lunacy again... First, let's finish out this season and hope we win an SEC Championship. Second, let's see if J.R. stays or goes. (and pray he stays) Then, if he goes, let's get some inside reports on how the QB race is going in practice, and speculate as to who the starter will be. (It'll be the one that gives us the best chance of winning) That simple. We HAVE to do nothing but reward the best performer.
Damn, next year isn't even here yet, and people are already screaming for the back-up QB? Here's my prediction, whoever is numre 2 on the QB depth cahrt in the year 2015 should probably be starting instead of that #1 guy.
I dont think russell is going anywhere. He still has a lot to prove mentally and will stay and shine next year. Then...we will have R.P. in for 2 solid years after!! I hope J.R. stays and graduates for his own sake. Nothing against his ability and the likelyhood that he will be great in the NFL, but why not stay and set some records and get a FREE degree from one of the BEST schools in the country??
For the record, I personally believe that JR will return for his Sr. season, so having said that, I feel that the "Flynn or RP" question is moot. BUT, in the event that JR leave for the NFL, I would say Flynn needs to be our starter. Everyone wants RP to play because of all the hype surrounding him as one of the highest-ranking recruits to join LSU, but the bottom line is that he would still be a QB with zero starts under his belt and no matter how good he may turn out to be, he's still going to go through the same growing pains that JR went through the past two seasons. And if we have been taught anything the past few seasons, it's that Tiger Nation doesn't have patience--especially with our '07 schedule being BCS-friendly. Should we happen to lose a couple of games next year with RP as the starter, the fans jumping down his throat next year will make what JR's going through look like puppy love.
