Flawed hiring PROCESS. Not flawed coach.

I have been critical of this hire, but I'd like to direct my disappointment towards the PROCESS that Skip utilized to find/hire a replacement, rather than say that I'm disappointed in Coach Miles personally (which I'm not).

Some sports commentators said that LSU was the best college coaching job in the country. Well, it seems to me that the PROCESS that Skip used to find/hire a replacement for Saban was NOT appropriate for the best college coaching job in the country. It appeared rushed, hurried, fast, not well thought-out, not willing to wait until Monday, 3 Jan 05 open up consideration to NFL coaches, panicky and confined to about two serious candidates (Petrino and Miles) and, frankly, a little silly (you don't even bother to interview Jimbo?). In short, the PROCESS used to find/hire Saban's replacement was an embarrassment.

I agree with you but, now that we have a coach, I will support him and the tigers whole heartedly. Welcome coach Miles.

    Two comments:

The recruiting dead period ends Wednesday. It was very important to get a coach onboard before then to prevent our committments from being raided by other schools with no LSU input. Nick's assistants know they are gone and won't be maintaining contact. Miles coming in with enough assistants to get with every recruit quickly is a very good thing.

Were there any better coaches than Miles and Petrino on the market? Who? I'm quite sure Skip surveyed who was available and interested and made the best decision possible.

Robiskie told LSU officials that he wanted to interview.

This process reminds me more of something the Saints would have done.

Is LSU going to become the college version of the sAINTS?

With a limited number of scholarships to offer this year, I would raher taken the chance of losing a couple to taking our time with the process and ensuring we got the right person for the job. Otherwise, we'll be in the same boat in a couple of years. As mentioned, Robiskie wasn't interviewed, Crennel was not interviewed, and Mike Nolan was not interviewed. Granted, it's possible that their interest was gauged and they declined, but I would have still preferred a longer search to possibly find a hidden gem like we did with Saban.

Robiskie was only interested if he did NOT get the Browns head coaching job. LSU would have had to wait until that situation was resolved. No can do. Recruiting is everything. Skip had to move on.

Just give this guy negative rep points.

I know who this guy is. He is an Auburn fan who lives in Atlanta. He has been hanging around LSU boards since BEFORE the Nick Saban Era, and he NEVER misses an opportunity to kick LSU when we are down. He is a very pathetic human being who deserves our contempt.

Strangely enough, we never heard from this guy much during the Saban years, because he likes to kick you when you are down . . . you see . . . he is too much of coward to face LSU fans in a stand up fight.

Now, if he responds to this post, you'll read all about him being 6' 4", and yak, yak, yak . . . but the truth is, he is a coward who only gets involved on this board when he has an opportunity to kick LSU when we are struggling.

I just fear we're hiring another Curly Hallman. Hallman had a fair record at Southern Miss and knocked off a few good schools (ie Florida State). But when he came to LSU, he continued his ways of not really being a winner but only able to spoil the seasons of good programs.

I'm not impressed with the OSU "also ran" record this year. Who did they beat that is a dominating team? They lost by "only 3" to the Sooners. So what? They let Texas put 56 points on the board right afterwards.

I fear LSU's taking a BIG step backwards. I hope like hell I'm wrong. I don't know how the TAFs gonna collect their donations.

I remember when Archer was coaching, I had 4 LSU/Ole Miss game tickets in my car. I stopped to get gas, when I went to pay for my gas, someone broke into my car and left 3 more!!!

    Geaux Tigers!!!!
