Very Good Article Except for maybe "A Louisiana reporter asked Saban this week whether he's a slave-driver." Leave to an in state reporter to try and push his buttons. Besides the good things about Saban I am also glad to hear the below: "Saban doesn't lack for confidence himself. He hopes to push back LSU's annual game with Arkansas from a Friday to a Saturday, ..." I agree that this game needs to be moved to Saturday.
Saban is the ACE up our sleeve. Although LSU and Georgia are somewhat closely matched on paper ( we have an edge in most all stats allbeit small ) I think Mark R. is a good coach but Nick Saban is emerging as one of the all time great coaches. so in one last category that quite possibly is the MOST important one WE have a Caoching edge over UGA. GEAUX TIGERS~!
I still don't get this recurring theme. "That [being demanding] might be one reason none of his assistant coaches came with him from Michigan State and only three of the assistant coaches on his first LSU staff are still with him on his fourth. In contrast, eight of Georgia's nine assistants have been with Mark Richt since his first season in Athens. " Everybody thinks that Nick's assistants left because he's some kind of slave driver. In my view Nicks former assistants fall into two categories: 1. Postition coaches that left for promotions and opportunities elsewhere. 2. Coaches that weren't getting the job done and were sent packing by Nick. John Thompson is the only coach that appears to have left because of conflicts with Nick - and he left after a month having never practised or played a game. McClendon and Dinardo lost their jobs here, in part, because of being too loyal to assistants who weren't getting the job done. Under Nick, you better perform at your top level or you will get the opportunity to find some greener pastures. Turnover among assistants is a positive thing if you keep upgrading as you go. Nick certainly has done that. There is a difference between being difficult and being demanding and the sports writers just don't seem to get it.
