Pellini has been taking alot of heat, but I think everyone thinks he might not be so bad after all.

On the other hand, Jimbo Fisher hasn't taken much heat at all, but through the majority of Saban's tenure and in most of our games this year our offense seems to be the weakest link. I don't think Jimbo has quite earned his paycheck yet. He calls alot of misdirection, which comes off as weak to me. These 1 second slants that Russell is throwing irritates the crap out of me. The short passing game has its merits, but I think Fisher relies too heavily on it. I'd like to see more medium range passes.

Miles did a fine job this game and seems to be getting more comfortable on the sideline.

This was a tough game; I give Vandy alot of credit. Their coaches wouldn't allow us to win by just showing up. I think today Vandy forced our team out of its comfort zone, and I think we will be a better team for it. Adversity slapped our face and wiped off the brook-trout look. Hopefully we can keep it off and learn something from this game. I'm glad this wasn't an easy win; everyone knew we were talented. What we need to be great is leadership, identity, and desire. We found it for a game. We can expand from this experience. The question is "Will we?"

Sometimes I wonder if we blame the wrong guy when we seem to sit on the ball or get complacent. It happened when Saban was here, and it's happening now. Jimbo may be the one that is not as agressive as I'd like.

this short passing game may be something JIMBO and MILEs are doing ON PURPOSE to build JR's Confidance. they turned him loose on two deep balls tonight. I think you'll see them open it up when JR gets his poise in the pocket. Or I HOPE anyway.

I think that this time the problem was lack of execution by the players. I know I was a harsh critic the first couple of weeks, but Bo Pelini has come around and the defense looks much improved. The problems I did see were penalties and turnovers, basically errors in execution, not playcalling or gameplan.

This is encouraging because these errors tend to decrease as the season goes on.

Hard game to watch until the end, but I'm pulling alot more positives from this win than any of the others so far.

PS: Who does a drunk ass sounding slow talking word slurring fool Mike Gottfried think he is, getting on our case for questioning the coaching. When your pass defense was last in the nation don't you have a little room to question? I can't stand listening to that guy. Put him and Bob Davie in a broadcast together and I will jump out of a window to end the torment.

I think his last deep ball that he threw late and into double coverage scared the hell out of Miles and Fisher. If JR would use better judgement they would probably give him a little more open play calling. I was happy to see at least a couple of long balls if just to show the other team that it was a possibility.

I understand the short passing game is to build Russell's confidence, but those quick slants rarely work and are usually in traffic. In comparison, Russell threw some beautiful medium range passes. You have to mix it up.

David Jones, one of our TEs, stunk it up tonight, fumbling and aiding in an interception. I believe he also had a drop or two. I wanted him off the field. I also hated seeing Jamarcus Russell leading receivers into hard hits with a few of his passes.

I also thought the announcer getting on our case was stupid. Hey man, we looked like crap against Arizona St and UT at least half the game, should we be happy? I think its low class to rag a man because he slurs his words, but I do question why ESPN uses him as a commentator. I didn't mind the other guy, I thought he did a good job actually. I heard a few of you complaining about him.

Yeah, and on those deep balls (I only saw one of them--was in the kitchen getting a beer for the other :D ), even though they weren't completed, I was happy that we attempted them. Makes the defense have to account for it and keeps 'em thinking.

I have NO problems with incomplete deep passes.

I understand the whole short pass to build your confidence theory. To begin with, I don't think JaMarcus has a confidence problem. When Jimbo finally thinks J-Mar gets his condidence, will he then throw more deep balls? I dont think he will. Jimbo to me is the "dont screw it up on offense, let our defense make me look good" kind of guy. His idea of opening up our offense is throwing more bubble screens.

When your Quarterback throws 40 yarders into the endzone on 4th down on an adlibbed play with no time left, it is pretty safe to say he is a pretty confident dude.
