There is some damn good food in this town, especially seafood. Mike Andersons, Phil's Oyster Bar, Drusilla Seafood, and Ralph & Kacoos are the most popular. All will be crowded on game weekends but you can get in with a wait, they are used to it.

TJ Ribs is especialy good at moving a crowd through on game day and serves fine BBQ. Good Bar & Grills abound. The Chimes, The Pastime, Georges, Ivars, and Brewbachers are all great LSU bars with excellent food. Juban's is kind of upscale but has the best Louisiana cuisine.

And don't forget 24-hour breakfast at Louie's Cafe, a classic diner with the best omelettes and burgers in town.

The casino riverboats downtown offer some fun . . . and New Orleans is only a hour away.

    One word....da Chimes

While you're at LSU, you have to go to the Chimes. Great food and beer.

    food etc.

Hey, best food is at Ralph and Kacoos and also Mike Andersonsand Sicilys has a great and reasonably priced buffet. State capitol building is worth seeing as it is the tallest state capitol building in the US. Argosy casino is okay if you like to gamble. Enjoy your visit

If you go to Mike Andersons there could be a wait of 45 minutes to an hour for a table. I eat there about twice a month and I always sit at the bar and get waited on right away.

Ralph and Kacoos is OK for fried food but is really overated. Try Parrains on Perkins Road instead. You might want to try Joe Dreyfer's in Livonia about 20 miles from Baton Rouge on the west side of the river. The owner used to be the head chef at Commander's Palace.

T.J. Ribs has the best babyback ribs I have ever eaten anywhere. Other than T. J's the barbecue places in Baton Rouge all suck.

For steaks you can't go wrong at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Sullivans or Chicago's on Government Street. If you want the best pizza you ever ate the Fleur de Lis is a little further down Government Street. I ate there tonight and even though I was stuffed I was sorry to see the last bite go because even though I was full I wasn't tired of eating the great tasting pizza.

For Italian Vince's Italian Cuisine and Nino's are real good. Vince's is a little pricey but Nino's has some of the best lasagna anywhere. You might also want to try a meatball po boy at Pocorella's on Coursey Blvd.

Not a lot of upscale places in Baton Rouge but Juban's is very good. Primeaux's was fantastic the last time I ate there. The chef is a graduate of the Cordon Bleu school in Paris. I spent over $400 for dinner for two but we went all out with the wines and flaming Bananas Foster for dessert. It would have been cheaper to get a hooker but you know how it is when a woman you love starts running up your tab. One way or another you pay for it.

Breakfast/Late Night: Louies - try the mitchell omlette
    Lunch: TJ RIbs
    Dinner: Superior Grill - Mexican

or you could skip all of these and come visit the members of the Bushwood SA&PC on the parade grounds across from the union.
