Bama would have blitzed Lee and it might have even been worse. But I would have liked to have seen him get a chance.
No way to know that. Lee has played well off the bench historically. Lee MAY not have done any better but I KNOW a QB that played like **** from the opening kickoff until the moment we lost. And it wasn't Lee. Guess we'll never know because our loveable, teddy bear of a nice guy coach never gave him a shot.
And Lee would have gotten hit then thrown a bunch of picks and everyone would be asking why Les made the change. If anything play Mett in 2nd half, at least you would have some element of surprise.
He could not have done any worst either! Some times a change of pace sparks an offense. However we will never know!
No, you don't actually know that for a certainty. Bama came hard--no argument--but JL has been there for us and a great team is elastic, makes adjustments, and scores points. Come to think of it, great teams even get first downs and can move the chains past their own 50 yard line.
Jarett Lee has 1 td and 7 int's against Bama. He wouldn't have done anything because he never has. Bama barely even blitzed tonight, Lee would have thrown at least 3 picks.
The offense moves with Lee. When you are down in the 4th quarter, you don't exactly have your choice of gunslingers to lead you back. Jefferson was proven to be ineffective, and throughout his career, Lee has been able to move the LSU offense. Time was NOT on our side and we didn't have all game to wait for Jefferson to get us across mid-field (actually we did have all game and we did witness that). We had NOTHING to lose by putting Lee in and EVERYTHING to gain...like that crystal ball we were playing for. This is not some regular season NFL game where you use it to develop your QB, this was the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP and Les better have thrown out everything he had to win that...but he didn't.
