If you were a fan of UGA, would you be pro or con axing Richt? We haven't been a NC or SECC contender since Bama disposed of us in the rematch of the century. I'm pro axing Richt; consistent and underachieving doesn't please me.
Still a tough one, I don't think we should fire Miles, so I can't say I'd be a fire Richt guy, but I'd want changes.
Miles has had two seasons with less than two losses in the SEC. Counting the post season, he has no seasons without a loss to an SEC team.
I do not feel either coach should be fired, however as a LSU fan I would not mind a fresh start. I do feel each coach is a great man who truly loves their kids and universities. Two of the classier coaches you'll come across. All that said I feel each coach and university would do well with a change of scenery. My biggest issue with Miles is not the wins and losses. It's the unwillingness to adapt. It's his lack of preparation in big games. Had he coached to win and Bama still wins that acceptable. But this BS of playing not to lose is old.
My cousin is a sought after up and comer from high school and I told him if he wants to be loyal to the area play at LSU. If you want to win titles go play for Nick.
The worst part about it is Alabama wouldn't be winning titles if LSU hadn't hired Nick Saban. It stings that much more because it's being done by him. All they did was what the Yankees do, go out and get the most proven commodity, and if we are being honest, LSU vaulted Nick Saban into the spotlight. Saban is a good coach when he doesn't have the talent bed around him and the money and facilities. Which is why he was a middle of the road guy at Michigan State. LSU gave him the facilities, and the recruiting hotbed, and was willing to spend money, which turned a good coach into a great one. I'm not sure he succeeds like he does if he leaves Michigan State for some other school unless it's Texas, OU, Ohio State, USC, or a powerhouse from the SEC. Skip Bertman should get some credit for Alabama's titles in Alabama. Because they wouldn't have given him the shot LSU did.
I have to say that that really means nothing IMO. LSU hired what the administration thought was the best coach available, no fault there. Saban chose to leave, nothing could be done about that. Saban chose to go to Bana, again out of our control. The fact that the administration was smart enough to hire him doesn't make it sting anymore to me.
Richt is a good coach and Georgia is a respected winning program. He is a little light on championship games, a lot lighter than Les. But Georgia has to make the same decisions as everybody else. A time came when Cholly Mac had to go. A time came when Bobby Bowden had to go. But Richt and Miles are not at that point. They are winning, perennially ranked, consistent good recruiters, and Les at least makes it to SEC and national championship games from time to time.
