I've enjoyed reading the posts on this forum, and contributing some of my own. I will likely plunk down the $12 and become a member. But for now it's time to take a break and get back to real life! Skip Bertman is a professional, has 5 NC skins on his wall. I am an emotional, sometimes irrational, fan. My opinions often conflict and are not always consistent. Were I the king of LSU Athletics, I would have hired Bobby Petrino. Had he been offered, he would have taken the job. I probably would have offered Tuberville before Les Miles. I definitely would have looked in the NFL ranks. Upon reflection, while I'm definitely not wowed by Miles' hiring, I have to think that Skip made a reasoned, considered judgment call. I really hope this hire was not somehow forced by the BOS. I'd like to think it was Skip's decision. I recall that someone in a forum post said Scott Rabalais said Miles would get the job, and this was several days ago. So I don't think Miles was a last ditch, hurry-up hire ... I think a lot of thought went into this. He definitely was not the "sexy" hire. Petrino would have been; several others as well. But you know what, all things considered he might just be the best coach, for the situation, that Skip could have hired. Bring in Del Rio? Gotta love his youth, his enthusiasm, his NFL rep. But how would he recruit this year? Perhaps Del Rio (and this is assuming he was ever really interested in the LSU job) would have grown into the job --- Miles is already mature and ready for the job.

Not a sexy hire, by any means. Not a popular hire. Underwhelming, many say. But a mature, reasonable, professional decision.

Support Miles and his LSU Tigers. See how he does tomorrow. Let's see if he has the fire in his belly. Let's see if he puts together a killer staff (no Bill Clay as DC pleeze!) Let's see how he salvages recruiting. The man deserves a fair shake and I know all true Tiger fans will give him one.:geaux: :eek:ldskule: :helmet: :champs: :)
