BBC is the only really fair and balanced network. They do less ass-kissing to political figures, use less political-correctness, and effectively depict both sides of an issue, even when unpopular. CNN is politically moderate in general, but sometimes all over the map. They are pretty good about airing both sides of an issue, but will subtly take a side from issue to issue. NBC, MSNBC, ABC, and CBS are all slightly left of center, but do offer some contrary opinion. I assume this is how one defines "fair and balanced". Fox is way to right of center and is apparently grinding a political axe much of the time. Despite their catch phrase, they are laughably unbalanced, and offer limited opposing viewpoints.
It only seems that way, Red. Before Fox came along, the "other side" was never presented. Fox presents both sides and, since the conservative viewpoint is one of them, people think they have an agenda. Fox has plenty of "News Analysts" who espouse the liberal/Democrat point of view.
I think Fox is slightly right of center, but definantly closer to center than anything else listed here (other than BBC, which I know nothing about) because CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS & NBC are all pretty far left of center. You can never count on any of them to represent the facts 100%.
Yes BBC was serving only their political interests in their coverage of the war against Iraq. Nothing fair and balanced about them. Sky News was much more fair during the war.
any consumtion of news from any source is a little fact-finding project. nothing is fair and balanced. my favorite newspaper is a complete joke (new york post). i dont care. i am neither angered nor concerned by slanted news. it is my responsibility to find the truth if i want it. i dont believe any one source. fox news was a necessary development to counter the rest of the channels, to balance out the perspectives.
Yeah but unfortunately most people are not as responsible as you in seeking out the truth. For those who only read the New York Post, which is probably the most liberal paper in America, they become brainwashed. People are generally too lazy mentally to dig for the truth. The Washington Post and Los Angeles Times are just about as bad in their liberal slant.
well my hope is that an equal number of people will be indoctrinated with the views of both sides, and it will equal out nicely. (also maybe you misread and thought i meant the new york times? the post is conservative and owned by news corp, just like foxnews.)
BBC? They just had a scandal and I believe a couple people resigned over thier fair and balanced reporting!
