Most of this has probably been covered at one time or another, but here... I decided to put it in 1 post... 20 More "Biased" Statistics (i.e. facts) as to why LSU is the Champion... --------------------------------------------------- 1) Defeated 5 currently AP Top 25 teams. 2) Had 3 victorys over top 10 teams. 3) Beat one of them 2 times (#7 Georgia) 4) Beat a top 3 team (AP #3 Oklahoma). 5) Stronger Strength of Schedule than USC 6) LSU is 13-1 (.9285) USC is 12-1 (.9230) with less victories over teams ranked by their beloved AP... 7) Margin of victory is better than USC 8) LSU gave up 699 yards less then USC did, and played 1 more game than USC. 9) LSU gave up 85 less points, and played 1 more game 1 more game than USC. 10) LSU gave up 10 TD's less than USC did, against better teams than USC played, and again, played 1 more game. 11) LSU has 48 sacks on the year, USC doesn't even have 20. 12) LSU was beat by a AP top 25 team, USC was beaten by unranked Cal. 13) LSU beat Auburn and Arizona worse than USC did. (Scored more points, and 1 point better on MOV) 14) LSU is ranked higher on average in all of the major statistical categories (27.05 as compared to 27.5, which I admit is close, but we're not playing horse-shoes are we??) 15) LSU has already stopped at least 3 "Star" QB's this year... on 4 occasions... Including the Heisman winner and the one of the finalists, not to mention we have beaten 3 teams now with a higher ranked passing offense than USC has... 16) LSU finished the year with a more than comfortable lead in the BCS over USC (2.01 points) (Don't whine, you people loved the BCS until your weaker scheduling caught up to you.) 17) LSU Ranks first in time of posession... USC ranks 84th... (Seems un-important, but it's not) 18) Fourth Down Conversions... LSU is 55.6%, USC is 42.9%... 19) Third Down COnversions... LSU is 42.9%, USC is 32.4%... 20) And last but not least, we won the REAL championship game. Not the game that was deemed the championship game by a bunch of people that didn't like the way things turned out for them this season. I'm not saying that we would beat USC or not, because like it or not, neither you or I will ever know... For anyone to suggest that they do know, would be nothing more than a guess. What I AM saying is, from the beginning of this season to date, USC has not accomplished as much on the field as LSU has. I do still however believe that being Oklahoma lost at the time they did, they should have gone to the Rose Bowl instead, but the system that exists, did not account for that and that is a flaw that will have to be worked out....Changing it while the season is in progress, is like LSU changing the rules of the game because we have too many penalties and we don't like paying the yardage.... Seems pretty silly to me... Geaux Tigers! National Champions 2003-04 SEC Champions 2001, 2003 "I've never been knocked down so many times in my life." - UGA QB David Greene reflecting on LSU.
