Look, I understand the JJ vs. J Lee battle... But really, the pros and cons of both are =... Why is J Lee better suited to win a NC over JJ?
I dont mean to, but from the complaints I see in threads, people, and game chat, people still hate it when JJ is in the game... IMO I think they are equal and we are better off with picking 1 QB and rolling with 1 QB....
This one is tough. JJ - Pros Running the option to near perfection Running with the ball when he can't find someone to throw to Has a strong arm Can make a play out of nothing JJ - Cons Can be terribly inaccurate at times Takes a long time to release the ball with defensive players flying around him (scary) Slow to make decisions (see safety vs WKU) Has trouble reading defenses Needs to learn to let some steam off the ball Lee - Pros Pretty accurate Makes good reads Very quick release Has developed good touch Lee - Cons Not very mobile, wilts when there is pressure Gets rattled too easily, bit of a head case you can say
I have to admit I'm a bit torn now as to who should play more. Initially, I thought Lee. I'm surprised how little he played tonight. Jefferson seemed to throw better tonight and of course we know he can run. Notwithstanding the bonehead play on the safety, JJ looked good. Whether JJ should play more, I don't know. Regarding Lee, it was quite interesting to see him running the option, and running himself. Glad to see him get the TD pass. I suppose we need both to play, but maybe more 50-50 at this point. :geauxtige
Well I think they are both average at best. I just think we seemed to roll better this year with Lee as the starter and jefferson as the change up guy. Just seemed to click better this year.. Last 2 years have been hard to watch as Jefferson as our primary... So that is why...two QBs mean you have no QBs. But we seemed to roll a bit better with what we had...
Unfortunately it's not a matter of which one is better, but which one isn't as bad as the other. I'm not sure one has separated from the other. However I'm surprised Miles tossed JL aside the first time he struggled. This is the 4th straight year that LSU wins in spite of it's QB's instead of because of their QB's. Paradise would be a world in which LSU had an average SEC QB.
First, you can't base anything off of the WKY game. The offense is rather anemic with JJ compared to when JL is playing good. JJ is the "safe" QB. JJ won the starting role back not by making big plays, but by not turning the ball over. If we're losing big, I can promise you we'll see JLee in the game, just like last year. JLee is the high risk, high reward QB. We're going to need BOTH QB's here on out. We were lucky against Bama that our defense held so well, but if Bama had been up by more I'm certain we'd have seen Lee back in even after the 2nd pick. The simple truth is NEITHER QB is good enough on their own to lead this team. Fortunately for us our defense is just unstoppable this year.
Les has certainly set himself up after tonight to go with either one of them. Jefferson officially has had ample pass plays called for him to move forward vs stiffer competition. I do agree with TexasTigers that Lee should start and JJ should come in as change of pace.
