So I'm watching the republican debate last night. After it is over there is an hour long or so show discussing with experts the winner of the debate and other such political stuff. All this time they have a text and vote poll from the viewers going on. Very few times did Paul's name come up during the discussions other than to point out that he is a non factor, and that he made McCain look like a fool with the question he asked him. Then the results of the poll comes in and he is tied with Romney for first with 41% of 14,000+ votes. The I went to their website (MSNBC) and they had about 6 questions concerning the debate. Paul was miles ahead of everyone in these polls. I know these are non scientific but non the less he has the attentions of many based on these. If these are the same people that go vote in the elections, 1. Why do the experts keep calling him a non factor? and 2. why are his numbers not better in some of these early state primary. Just doesn't make sense.
These polls generally allow more than one vote. Ron Paul's few supporters refresh and vote for Paul over and over and over again.
Paul supporters stuff online polls and text voting. Ask a member of the media from any network and they will all say the same thing about Paul supporters. They are passionate and relentless in getting out the message, but it is coming from just a handful of them.
Maybe. I don't know. I like Paul, and think it is clear he has some great ideas, but kinda hard to jump on a bandwagon that may never go anywhere.
Part of his problem is that he is not a republican, but is running as one to have a bigger platform to express his ideas. He couldn't get this much attention if he was running as a libertarian. Many republicans (including Fox) don't like him for that. Some of his stuff on fiscal policy is good, really good. But his foreign policy is off the wall.
He does have some good ideas, but not enough of them and he has a lot of equally kooky ideas. That is why he is a non-factor.
