One caller asked about the dark side of sports such as the fight in the South Carolina-Clemson game and the NBA fight. Saban said there was no place in sports for that kind of behavior and that his players have been taught not to talk to players on the opposing teams. Coach Saban said when he first arrived at LSU, two players wanted to fight and he gave them a pair of boxing gloves and told them to get in front of the team and fight until they had enough. Saban said the two players were too embarrassed to fight. Since then he has not had any other players who wanted to fight in practice.

I heard about that one ... and a few more examples the first year

Shows what an amazing perspective and a master of psychology that is Nick Saban.

LSU is truly blessed to have such a fine coach ... was just thinking today how blessed we are this season and past years for so few incidents

(like the DJ fiasco in 2002 and the girlfriend slapping incident this year)

There are so few problems when players mirror a professional and role model coach and his asistants ... on the same page.

I think Saban's assistants don't get enough of the credit for this ... they mirror the coach's philosophy here ... they walk the walk, talk the talk and the players eat it up.
