Pac-10 teams, for the most part, live and die by the pass and always have. They attempt 30 to 40 a game and always end up with inflated numbers. We have 2 new cornbacks playing in a new scheme. Yes, our corners got burned last night. Yes, we did not blitz effectively (as we are all used to). We all knew there would be a slight drop off in our D but a huge improvement on offense. This was our first game of the season being played on the road against the 2nd or 3rd best team in the pac-10, that will challenge USC for the Pac Title. We will improve, but we may not see the awesome defense that Saban had, that just life. We are undefeated and 3rd in the country right now. We get UT and UF in Tiger Stadium this year and as a matter of fact from what i have seen from AU, Bama, Ole Miss, Arkansas et al... we should win the West and see UF, UT or UGA in the SEC Championship. We are being embraced by the media as the comeback kids, the people's choice... and will get the benefit of the doubt if we go wire to wire (which we still can do). Settle down everyone, chickenlittlisms shouldn't start till our O and D totally suck one up. We did somethings good and somethings bad last night and i feel like Miles will make improvements and we should see a better team take the field against Claussen/Ainge.
I havent forgotten. In fact, your post echoes my sentiments almost exactly. I just dont feel like arguing, so I havent posted much lately. I expect our defense to drop off just a little, but I think it will be better than we saw last night. I dont expect to have to score 30+ points every game to get the win.
I agree. It was our first game of the season, against a ranked opponent (who had a warm up game) on their turf with a new head coach and defensive coordinator. Do we need to improve b4 the next game especially on the defensive side of the ball???? Absolutely!!!! But I'll take the W, and give our team big congrats for rising to the occassion against all of the adversity they've had to endure the last two weeks.
I can accept 400 yards, but 560....come on There's deeper problems than just writing this off as LSU playing a pass happy offense.
