....'cause what is happenning to Auburn could very well be happenning to us. I can't imagined how P!SSED I would be if we ran the table in the SEC and got rewarded by watching the national championship game on TV, all because 2 teams started the season ranked ahead of my team.

    This is complete BS.

There is no SEC West team that I would rather beat than Auburn, but I can't help but feel for their fans this year. It isn't often that an SEC team rolls through their schedule undefeated.....and when it happens, that team should be a "lock" for one of the top 2 BCS spots.

It was ordained from the start of the season that OU and USC would play in the CG to make up for not being able to see the two square off last year. Anything short of a loss by OU or USC won't keep them out.

Yes. Let's propose a Bill in the US Congress.

If a SEC team finishes the season and SECCG undefeated and untied, they shall play for the NC, regardless of the BCS rankings.

I am with you, but we did go through this last year. Remember when we entered the SECCG? Virtually no one outside La. claimed that we belonged in the NCG. WTF? Even during the SECCG, the idiots from CBS still claimed that LSU probably wouldn't get the invite. Only after hammering UGA did the CBS guys say "uh-oh." So Auburn is in a similar position. Before they can gripe, they need to win the SECCG. A lot of voters will probably watch that game, so AU needs to impress. Then if they can b*tch if they win that game. Personally, I agree with you and think it should be AU in the Orange. At least USC had the illusion of a "co-championship" via the AP. Auburn appears not to be in that position and would need to finish #2 in the AP at the end of the regular season and have #1 lose in the Orange to even hope for a split championship. If Auburn goes 12-0 and doesn't get to OB invite, it will be a sad day. Just another fiasco in the BCS that seems to give us one every year or so. :cuss:

This is why we need a PLAYOFF!!

Every other sport in the history of mankind had some sort of playoff, even high school football has a playoff!

you are correct, and while strong arguments for a playoff can be made, i think the human element is the peoblem with the current system. the computers, they know what is right.

i guess it hard to get people to change a system when the people dont want their precious kingmaking power given to computers, who are of course better and objective by nature.

Martin, I agree with the overall premise, but computers last year had Miami, OH with Ben Roethlisberger at the helm as the #1 team in the nation...and this year they say Boise State is #1, and Ohio State is like #7 in one of them...

Computers can only work with statistics provided to them. Miami OH finished ahead of OU in almost all the BCS polls last year, I think, and OU was 12-2 and MofO was 13-1...This does not mean that Oklahoma would not have WIPED THE FLOOR with that clearly inferior program.

The playoff is the only way we can get a true champion, and even then, you'd have people howling if it was 8, 16, 32, or even 64 teams...What about #65? Who says they're not #63?

What about #9 in an eight team format? Or # 17? There will be problems inherent in any system the NCAA sets up...
