seem to like LSU. Living in Atlanta the past 16 years or so I have a lot of chances to see this. TMA, TFIT, BostonTigah, VATiger, TexasGrowl and all of the other out of town Tigah fans must see a lot of this too. Not just with the BCS CG but all year long. Everybody I meet seems to be pulling for LSU in all of these T.V. games if their team isn't involved and many of them go out of their way to tell be that they pull for LSU more than any other team except for___________. I wonder why this is? It may be the off color uniforms we have, the mystique of Tiger Stadium, the Tailgating legacy, the golden girls & Tiger Band who everyone tells me is better than their band, the party rep of Louisiana, the fanaticism of the fans. Reckon it's due to all of the above. But ya know, you just gotta luv those TIGAHS!
Also LSU fans are a cross-cut of society, everyday people and such. Also LSU constant underdog status makes them Luvable...
If we develop a level of sustained excellence, we'll definitely become despised. That's the American way. Pull for the underdog and build them up. Once they're at the top, find any flaw that you can to push 'em back down.
The whole thing is though that in many of the games I am talking about we were the fav., not just this year but every year I hear these things.
Also, this weekend will be a showcase for the entire university, fans, and state of Louisiana. I'm hoping we conduct ourselves well because this could be the one event that everyone judges LSU & Louisiana for years to come. It would be a shame if the bandwagon fans that flock to N.O. start rioting and give the nation a bad picture of us. I think bandwagon fans can be a good thing. Just talking more about the ones looking for trouble.
lsu99 is exactly right. Most recently, OU has run into this recently. In 2000, OU was everybody's favorite underdog. Since then, everyone piles on OU whenever possible....but that's what we're used to
Its already happening in our own yard (The SEC) visit some rival boards. I am surpised at some of the spew launched at LSU and their fans now. Of course now most of them say its a matter of time before LSU is investigated etc etc. Typical hog wash.
I'm just thinking that if we win the celebration won't get out of hand as we are all used to partying so much and this city is the greatest in the world at handling crowds and also due to the fact that N.O. has a place to PARTY in the French Quarter, unlike all other cities.
Absolutely correct cajdav1. This city is no stranger to extremely large and at the same time inebriated crowds. The emotion will be much higher after we beat OU than it is during Mardi Gras, but most of the LSU fans are used to partying hard in the NO. I dont see a big problem with rioting, just a problem with cleaning up all the victory sludge off Bourbon.
In other cities they try to keep the fans from congrugating and drinking and that is what usually starts all of the violence, reprecussions from being harrased. I doubt if that will happen here.
