ESPNU ESPNU, a multi-media college sports initiative including a new 24-hour television network, will launch on Friday, March 4, 2005, it was announced by Burke Magnus, ESPNU Vice President and General Manager. ABC and ESPN are going to end up with an incredible share of NCAA programing. This shoud end up generating even more exposure for LSU in the long run as good as we are in so many sports. I hope they really increase their coverage of college baseball.
Re: ESPNU--A coolege only network Will this be included in Cox's expanded cable, or will you have to purchase it through a package deal.
For what it's worth. I just checked the cox website for lafayette and the channel guide did not show anything yet fro ESPNU. I assume the website is not updated at this time.
Thanks for posting this. A few of us had discussed ESPNU several weeks ago in the roundtable forum. I'd forgotten about it though.. So... (I am in BR if not obvious)... I called Cox just now. After about 45 minutes of hold time and finally getting through to the right department, marketing, I was able to get information about ESPNU availability on Cox. Originally Cox had no intentions of carrying ESPNU, but they have received customer requests and inquiries for it. As of now, Cox corporate is in negotiations with ESPN to carry the new channel. At this point I wondered if they were simply humoring me with the response. I asked if there is some sort of Cox corporate number or email that I, as well as others, can call or write to requestiong the channel. Pointing out that the numbers of requests would likely be much much higher if people did not have to call in and hold for 30+ minutes to make the request. They did not have such information available but took my name and number and said they would be calling me back soon. If/when they do call me with it, I'll post it here. I am sure most of you could care less anyways.. but I do!!! :tigbas:
This is great news. I hope they do some sort of Sportcenter show strictly for college sports. Aside from football and basketball, college sports get no news coverage so it's hard to keep up. Baseball is a great example, but I'm a big fan of tennis and swimming. I think the demand is there.
Not too sure about the swimming, I think I read the other day that LSU set an alltime attendance record for a swim meet with 250 fans. That's really low.
