I am in no way pleased with the offensive performance either, let's get that out there. Other than the big plays, we didn't sustain a drive. But I don't think it was a bad idea to try to play more possession football in the second half. We just didn't do it well.
A really, really good point. Most of you know I am a Les Miles supporter. That doesn't mean I think he walks on water - just that I think he's a good man and does a fine job with the players, especially off the field. We didn't have a single legal problem this summer, and as far as I know, not since the Varsity thing a long while back. Back on topic, though, Chris Lowe is right - he's the head coach and it really chaps my butt when I hear him say stuff like that. I know he's not a great communicator, but I don't see any way to interpret that statement other than literally. That being the case, Shep needs to be used more and more and more. He needs to be used enough to be a realistic decoy. Enough already. Make it so. :milesmic::geaux:
10% is obviously not enough when you don't score any points in the second half and almost blow a 20pt lead. You don't quit playing with a 20pt lead with 2 quarters to go. Was his quota fulfilled? Are we rationing touchdowns now? He scores two in the first half so we half to let the others have their turn?
Correct. And my point is we most likely won't do it well this season. We don't have the horses to grind it out Big 10 style. We have to use our playmakers as bait in order to run successfully. Hopefully Miles will see this sooner than later.
True. But I do agree with him on Miles' constant, "...wish we got <insert player's name> the ball more".....he's right: QUIT saying it and just make it so!
ISLSTL, you've been waiting all year to find something to crucify Miles with. You picked the wrong thing here...and so did Chris Low. - And quit making crap up. Do you really believe they had 4th stringers in on special teams? They didn't. Most of what they were missing was linemen, and the linemen that took those linemen's positions wouldn't have been in kick coverage anyway. LSU had 5 starters out counting Blackwell, so quit with the poor depleted UNC crap. - You set the table where you couldn't possibly lose. You stated all last week that if we didn't blow them out, it was failure. Well, you got your wish...but it was unreasonable to begin with. It isn't like they suddenly became some 1AA team. - Turnovers and penalties is what stopped the offense. What nearly cost LSU the game was the defense. But as usual, the usual crowd of "realists" put it all on Miles, Jefferson, and Crowton. Chavis getting the pass. It was Chavis' D that got torched by TJ friggin' Yates. I guess Miles should've hired a better DC. Maybe Miles is calling the D plays too?? I mean, after all...per you...he's calling the O when we do poorly, (ie fumble and commit stupid penalties), and when it's clicking, it's Crowton's genius. Right? - Shep touched the ball more than anyone else on the team. Don't forget the ones he touched...and dropped.
What 5 starters? Blackwell, Baker, and Peterson. who else? Also 6 of the 13 were DB's. only 3 lineman.
UNC had 7 starting DEFENSIVE starters out.....we couldn't wouldn't have stopped John Curtis if we had 7 starters out on D... You don't think that four DBs not covering kicks is a big deal? I do think Chavis should be held accountable for playing PP on the line instead of in coverage, but they were out there the entire 2nd half... No matter what, I know we have to get better on both sides of the ball...
Who was our starting safety? What about Downs? Plus add Chris Tolliver who would've been our 4th WR. Instead, we had to play true freshmen there. I wonder who took their place on Special Teams?? Wait...I bet I can guess. Fruge!!
You're better than this. He had one legit drop. The second one he got hit as the ball got there. There is no way he holds on to that. He scored 2 TDs in 6 chances (counting the incomplete passes) in the first half. He may have touched the ball more then anyone else, but with that TD to touches ratio, I'm feeding him the ball.
