Has ESPN's coverage of college football pissed anyone else off? When Georgia struggles mightily and has to come from behind to win, it shows their "great character" and their poise. But when LSU does exactly the same, they say that LSU isn't as good as they used to be, and this will be a down year, and magically they will lose 5 games this year. This type of media bias pisses me off, if ESPN weren't the only station offering good sports coverage i wouldn't watch it. I pay my cable bill to watch espn analyze the sports, not to hear Trev Alberts such Georgia's you know what all freakin day long. :lsug:
I had no problem with their coverage of the Ga-South Carolina game. First, Ga-"USC" is a rivalry game (well, for the 'Cocks at least) and is also a conference game. 'SC was likely to come out playing like gangbusters at home b/c a win here could not only set the tone for the rest of the season, but give them a leg up tiebreaker wise in a long-shot campaign to win the SEC East. I think most observers were more expectant of a close UGA-'SC game at South Carolina than they were of a close LSU-Oregon St. game at LSU. Add to this the fact that Georgia was down 16-0 at one point, only to shut out the 'Cocks 20-0 the rest of the way on the road against a conference divisional rival is pretty damn impressive, IMO. LSU gets it's chance to silence the doubters over the next 3-4 weeks, so I wouldn't let what's being said right now get under your skin too much.
I was lookin around on ESPN's website yesterday and I noticed this also. The headline was something very positive about UGA, poise, character, resilience....whatever. I know we don't get that kind of respect, but if OSU wouldn't have got crushed by Boise St we might be getting props as well. South Carolina looked pretty good against Vandy in their first game and we sucked overall in our first game. Basically UGA gets props by comparison.....
Look, most of you guys are full grown men. Get a grip and quit worrying about was ESPN, or whoever else says anything about LSU. It means nothing. You want them to notice LSU, then go to all the games, scream your freaking heads off, make home field advantage a factor, and let the team and nick saban do the rest. I'd rather LSU 13-0 with all the media hating us than LSU going 8-3 with the media loving us. Point is, don't let all these goofs get in your head about what they say. 95% of these sports writers are yankees anyway.
I really think that had LSU nailed OSU's QB on that 4th down play in OT (and we were 1/2 step away from doing it) and won the game 22-15 instead of having to hold our breath and hope the PK missed another extra point in order to win the game, then we would NOT have been labeled as "lucky" to win. And we would have gotten more of what GA got, which is a gutsy comeback and a young QB that saved the day. That would have been more the focus. But it is what it is. I try not to pay much attention to it, but there are definitely times it becomes quite annoying.
Trev might be against LSU, or in love with GA . . . it doesn't matter. When LSU beat ORE ST, ESPN made that their "instant classic" and replayed the game on ESPN Classic Sports Network. After the game Trev did put down the Tigers for their poor play, but the other two idiots compared LSU to Ohio St and having the guts to win in the face of horrible play. Is that not respect? ESPN has programs that just give the news, if you don't want opinions then I suggest you don't watch Game Day . . . it really is that simple. I also don't understand why you are a slave to ESPN, if you have cable you most likely also have a Fox Sports network that covers college football, or maybe CSTV (College Sports Network) which has daily shows breaking down the games, or you could use the internet if ESPN pissing you off this much . . . collegefootballnews.com praises LSU and give unreal coverage to the team, some might say they are bias towards us. This deserves rep points.
