ESPN reporting Spurrier to South Carolina almost a definite

Chris Mortenson, who I would deem fairly reliable, just said 15 minutes ago on Sportcenter that it is becoming very apparent that Lou Holtz will be announcing his retirement from USC in the next week or so, and that Spurrier will be the man. Mortenson said expect an announcement in the next couple of weeks so SPurrier can get started on recruiting.

Again, just a rumor, but pretty reliable.

No matter where Spurrier goes there will always be that "GATOR" on his chest. If this happens...I will miss Lou Holtz :(

Yeah. Holtz has always been a coach that I've always respected. You have to pull for someone like that. I don't think that South Carolina was the right place for him though. They were too behind when he took over.

I just don't know if South Carolina is ready to be a "marked program"--which they're sure to be if Spurrier goes there. Every team in the SEC will be gunning to make Spurrier "eat it", paying him back for all of those years and "cocky" :D comments he had a Florida.

I would retire if I were Holtz. I mean he has the sorriest bunch of trash on his team. Probably most high school teams could beat SC. Certainly every I AA college team cold.

    Come on someone gets it.

Screw Holtz. He didn't vote for us last year at the end of the coach's poll. I hope his team gets pounded by Clemson.

    I couldn't agree more, I'm glad he's retiring.
I liked him before this happened last year now I hope retires and goes off into
    the twilight zone.
Good bye, He never belonged in the SEC anyway, alot easier coaching at a school like Notre Dame than South Carolina.

Spurrier should be happy going to South Carolina, it gives him a challenge.
Taking a school like that from no where and trying to make them into something.

He may always be a Gator but it doesn't look like he's ever going back! :nope:

mort also is is one of the clowns who swears saban is going to the dolphins............ so do you give him the same credibility with that statement??

  10. You stole my thunder on that one. He is the same guy that was telling the NFL crowd last year that Saban is going to the Bears because Saban said something to the affect of "The NFL is all about playing ball and I like that". He was like a lot of those other media members trying to stir up crap and this year will be no different I'm sure. On the flip side I do give the Spurrier to USC thing some merit because I've heard it from other sources. If I hear Mort saying it along with others I will listen to it but I wont ever listen to his 'inside information' again.
