Will they come even though Tennessee looked pretty weak? possible sites #9 Ohio State @ (W 27-6 over San Diego State) #22 Iowa (W 45-21 over N Iowa) #16 Georgia Tech @ (W 28-13 over UConn) #4 Virginia Tech (W 45-0 over Ohio) #5 Tennessee @ (L 7 - 16 to Florida) #3 LSU (Slept in) #1 fUSC@ (In the process of dismantaling Arky) #TBA Oregon (Beat #23 Fresno 37-34) #17 BC @ (Lost to FSU 28-17) #29 Clemson (Lost to Miami 30-36) I worry about fUSC and Oregon, and GT and VT... the media loves the ACC and drools over the trojans... Thoughts?
I think'll they'll do a game day here but not so sure with a TN lose. Perhaps they'll wait until we play Florida. There are too many stories here for the media to pass up with the Hurricane and all.
If they don't they are missing out on the whole Katrina thing......everyone else is seemingly wanting to take that angle including MNF this week.
I don't think TN is a weak team it just would have been a better promotion for two undefeated teams. Also, there are quite a few gameday type matchups this week.
I don't know if it will disappoint me so much if they do go somewhere else. To be honest with you, if they were to set up anywhere else but the PMac, I'd rather them not come Saturday. The last gameday, over by the tower, wasn't nearly as much fun as the GA game. Looking down the road, the Florida game might be better. The construction zone should be gone and things will be completely normal on campus. All that matters is we beat the **** out of Tennessee.
i think they will come just because next weeks game is in the traditional Gameday spot, the evening opener on ESPN. Although they have done it in the past, they dont usually do gameday where ESPN is not airing the game.
I think the people that watch game day want to hear about college football and not some story about Katrina. It's not a selling point.
I would say the GT vs VT game is our biggest threat. A lot of people are raving about VT's chances to make it to the Rose Bowl and with GT being on a roll, I could see that game being a host to ESPN Gameday--especially since it's in Blacksburgh. They just covered Ohio St/ Texas, so I don't see them going to Iowa and doing that game--besides, there's still other games that are better options (sorry Hawkeye fans) BC will drop after their loss to FSU and potentially, BC would be ranked higher than Clemson...and BC would only be a possible 22nd?? So I would say, no there as well. USC vs Oregon??? Nope. Not even a matchup. USC is going to be so heavily favored over the Ducks that it's not going to be worth setting up Gameday at. Then there's us. Dispite the Vols' loss, they should still be in or near the top 10 (OSU didn't drop that far when they loss--albeit to the #2 team) but I think UT comes to Baton Rouge ranked 11th. 11 vs 5 is still better than 16 vs 4 ....but I think that the big obsticle we're facing on hosting Gameday or not will be hotel accomodations. There are a lot of people associated with putting on Gameday, and they probably require about as many rooms as an opponents traveling with their band. If hotel space is still at a premium, then look for Gameday to just take the GT vs VT option and look to come to Baton Rouge for the FLorida game.
