Pretty annoying, sure, but one potential benefit to hiring a sitting college HC is he may bring a commit or two with him, so it wouldn't be a total loss.

Specifically, if it's Petrino and he brings in QBs and WRs well equipped for his brand of offense, that may turn out to be a good thing to help counterbalance any lost Saban commits.

What if a guy now intending to attend Louisville b/c of Bobby's offense follows him to BR and wins big for us? I seem to remember some guy named Mauck who, after a detour to the minors, followed the guy who recruited him out of high school to Baton Rouge.

    That turned out well.

Its a lean year and we dont have many slots anyway. With the talent we have on the team right now we can afford a small recruiting hit this year. Besides, many of these recruits may reconsider when the new coach comes in and he has a chance to talk with them.

Im not too worried about it unless the class completely implodes but thats not likely to happen.

    both good points...

guess I'm in "expect the worst and hope for the best" mode...meanwhile I have to deal with all the folks around here getting packed up and hyped up for the Rose Bowl. Looks like Mack is getting a 5 year extention so at least I'll be able to watch OU pound em for another half decade or so.

In addition, if Petrino is hired, it just might sway RP to sign based on the type of offense Petrino runs.

Certainly wouldn't hurt, that's for sure! Unless Petrino totally bombs out on any conversations with RP.

    C'mon, Skip!
