Since there are already about 100 threads on the old coach/new coach situation, I thought we could maybe talk about the upcoming bowl game with Iowa. How do you think LSU matches up with Iowa on offense and defense and who do you think will have big games for LSU? Could it be that Justin Vincent returns to form? Will Xavier Carter be a difference maker? Does Jimbo Fisher stumble across the fact that we have a tight end in our offense? How will our defense stack up against Iowa's passing attack? What are your thoughts about the game?
:hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:    :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: The board could use a little humor in these stressful times.
Cory Webster & Travis Daniels each have all-american games, with 2 interceptions each and several forced missed passes. Broussard, Addai, and even Vincent start wearing down their defense in the first quarter piling up some small yardage, while Randall and Russell struggle to find their grove. One of the QB's steps up & opens up the running game. Second half - running game rolls averaging around 8ypc and the passing game flourishes. Green & Carter combine for an average of 30 yards per attempt. Our defense sacks Iowa's Tate only 4 times, but force passes almost the rest of the time.
I'm excited about the game this weekend. We don't play against the Big10 often, it should be a good game between two talented teams. Of course I feel we will win, but I do think it will be close. Iowa likes to hit hard, win or lose they are always playing hard nosed style football. That is why I feel this will be a good matchup, both teams are physical and will be looking to control the line of scrimmage/game. I doubt we will see a shootout, or much of a high scoring game, but it will be fun to watch. I'm glad Saban will coach the Tigers in the bowl game. It's a nice ending to a good era of football at LSU. The current players deserve a shot to compete with the man who brought them there, focus for the game should be at an all time high. Winning the CapOne Bowl on Jan 1st on a national stage will bring some nice attention to the program, and will most likely land us back into the top 10. A ten win season is on the line for both teams in a Jan 1st bowl game. I expect a good game all around.
That's what happens when your coach drops a grenade on the program during bowl week. :dis: If Saban and Miami could have waited until after Jan.1., there'd be a lot less talk about the "speculation" of Saban leaving for the NFL...sort of like last year.
