An underling who reported DIRECTLY to Skilling signed a plea deal today. My friend who used to work for this man says he has more on Skilling than Fastow.

On Fastow, HIS lawyers are offering to plea and the feds are giving him an FU. They say he can plead guilty but they want the max.

I want Lay - he was the promoter.

What really should happen is not some draconian prison sentence. Just bankrupt them - 3-5 plus bankruptcy.

I don't like long prison sentences for any non-violent criminals - even rush limbo should only serve 3-5 in my view

I want SERIOUS Jail time. It might defer folks

in the future. If their worst case scenario i slosing money, it won't bother them as much to TRY.

BTW, this gentleman plea bargained and will still spend at least three years in prison and pay an eight million dollar fine. Fastow will spend AT LEAST a decade behind bars as he should. Boy, Bush is sure coddling those Enron folks.

As for Lay, he really had little to do with the company when most of this was going on. He enjoyed spending the money but was positioning himself as "statesman" and was rarely at the office. It will be tough to convict him of anything.

It's called vicarious liability - they should at least annhilate him civilly

You make a good point re deterrence. The thing is, fines like $8 million - that doesn't bankrupt most of these characters

In the case of the gentleman I am talking about.....

It bankrupted him ALMOST totally. My friend reported directly to this gentleman.

Look at Milliken, his dealings cost folks billions yet he came out of prison with a couple of hundred million in the bank.

As for Lay, their are civil suits against him that will be successful.

As for the prison terms, these folks have destroyed as many lives as an armed robber who PHYSICALLY hurts no one. THey deserve the same sentence.

Actually, these guys are even worse than an armed robber who physically doesn't hurt anyone.

People can replace the contents of their wallet, but when their pension gets wiped out they're royally screwed.

I wish these ba$tards would go into the Texass justice system instead of Club Fed.

    Is this some homophobia get-together?

Both Enron and Arthur Andersen offered same-sex benefits. They were great corporate citizens in every possible way. Just some accounting snafus and now the homophobia lobby is eager to run two progressive employers out of business?
