Can someone tell me what they think are Eli Manning's weaknesses?, since he is supposedly a smart quarterback, and will be exploiting the Tigers defence weakness, as indicated in the Advocate's article today.

Eli's weakness is his supporting cast.

He has no talent at running back. He has no talent on his offensive line. He also has no depth at either position, with lots of starters getting banged up versus the Warchickens, and McClendon merely "spinning his wheels" on the bench after he bought his new SUV.

He has absolutely NO defense. They talk about stopping the run, but they gave up a career day and a late charge through the air to Jason Campbell? Gimme a break...Matt Mauck and our intermediate passing with annihilate them. Our rushing attack will pulverize them.

In short, Manning's weakness is that he's surrounded by lesser talent everywhere he turns. Chris Collins is a decent talent. Other than that, there's a dearth of anything resembling SEC level talent at Ole Miss.

That's just the way the cookie crumbles.

Good to hear that. It seems that on occasions, the
Tiger defense coughs and gives up a big play, going as far back as the Georgia game and up to yesterdayls game; then they tighten up. Hope the defense doesn't give Eli any breathing room to let him even think of striking back with his passes. The Tigers for the past four games have been impressively dominating.

From what I hear, Eli is a horrible passer while on his back. Eli has difficulty removing free safety face masks from his helmet. Eli trouble seeing the field with defensive ends driving his helmet into the turf, other than that the kid's a supertalent!

Except for the 93 yard screen pass by Georgia, I cannot recall the defense giving up any big plays. Not while the game was in doubt anyway.

By big plays, I mean , by the Tigers defense standards, occasional 20+ yard gains.

Can you imagine the pressure Eli is under? The Memphis paper (unofficial Rebel cheerleader) ran a story about the fact that the athletic department has been inundated with memorobilia which fans want Eli to sign. They have had to tell their fans not to send anything else to be signed because they don't have room to store all of the stuff. For perspective on the importance of the game, they sought comment not from Archie, but from Johnny Vaught, their coach during the 1950's and 1960's. Johnny is 94 years old! Eli is getting bull-rushed already and the game is still a week away.
