1. I am not sure when this was posted. It seems that things are imploding just quickly enough to prevent any rescue to begin.

****ALL RESIDENTS ON THE EAST BANK OF ORLEANS AND JEFFERSON REMAINING IN THE METRO AREA ARE BEING TOLD TO EVACUATE AS EFFORTS TO SANDBAG THE LEVEE BREAK HAVE ENDED. THE PUMPS IN THAT AREA ARE EXPECTED TO FAIL SOON AND 12-15 FEET OF WATER ARE EXPECTED IN THE ENTIRE EAST BANK.****
  2. Wow, that's about the worst news possible...

  3. this 'coulda been worse' scenario is now the worst possible scenario. just a slower, agonizing suffering we thought we had just avoided.
  4. Having said that I think I changed my mind about what the news media was
saying about Nawlins avoiding the worst of Hurricane katrina.
I still think that parts of Louisiana and Mississippi got it worse but I just don't
see how things could be any worse in New Orleans.
  5. How many people haven't heard this message who are in this area? And for those who have heard, is there anywhere for them to go. It will be dark soon and the waters will begin to rise. As these people begin to cope with their situation, it becomes even more dire.

  6. nowhere to go at all. this is going to get even more disturbing as it goes on.

vertical evacuation only goes so far.
  7. Once the Marines and Navy arrive, they will be able to evacuate people very quickly. We pulled over 7000 people out of Albania in just two days. We were only one battalion. There will be many battalions there to assist. The people will be picked up at predetermined points. Marines and National Guard on the ground will be rounding people up and bringing them to the extract points. They will fly them back the ships and process them. Anyone needing medical treatment will be taken care of. From there they will be flown to a secure location.
  8. Here is what the WWL site is saying now. The only difference is it is nine feet of water throughout the entire east bank, but that it will come in the next 12-15 hours. The only good I can see from the diffenence, is maybe some people that evac to a 2nd floor will still be maybe safe instead of definitely gone.

  9. BTW, WWL has their live feed back up.
  10. I watched the interview they did with the mayor on the webcast and he said that the water level will rise to that of the lake. And the only way that they will be able to get rid of the water is ti figure out where in the levee system is the lowest point of water and punch a hole in that levee and let the water drain out.

The water level is gonna be 3 feet above sea level which is the level of the lake.
