I don't live in New Orleans, so I don't have first hand knowledge, but can anyone shed some light on what's going on there with the DA. From what I've been reading, this guy is not only incompetent but his inactions are borderline criminal in that he's not prosecuting violent criminals; especially murderers. If true, how on earth can he get away with this? Can't the AG or even the Feds step in and remove him from office if the egregious actions are true? I've also read that his office trying to seal the records from the Memorial Hospital deaths during Katrina that 5 different experts concluded were homicides? If the records are sealed, not only will the doctor that allegedly killed them go free, but the families will not even be able to sue for wrongful death. What are your thoughts?
I don't see how race has anything to do with it. Dereliction of duty and incompetence, maybe. But how does race fit into the equation? From what I gather, his malfeasence is equal opportunity.
Race also enters into it from an elective standpoint. Blacks vote for Blacks, not matter what. Especially in N.O. Look at Nagin and Jefferson. Issues such as competence and honesty just do not enter into it.
Ahh, I did not know this. Hence the request for info. I'm just wondering how he can get away with some of the things he's doing (or not doing) while in office. Some of these murder cases he's not prosecuting have more than enough evidence. I guess the AG or Feds would've taken over by now if they could. I don't get it.
Yes this is true. As martin has pointed out, certain demographics do not care about trivial things like ethics or ability. They only care that candidates are charismatic and rhyme when they speak every so often. I give all credit for the above post to martin. It was his observation.
Sadly and very true. I think it's education and ambivalence that results in that voting trend. I mean, broke, ignorant honkies do the same thing. My guess is that generally nobody cares. No celebrities were killed, no animals were harmed, and nobody's feelings are hurt. And it's in NOLA, where the underbelly has been willfully ignored for years.
Wow, I never really thought about it like that, but it's painfully obvious that you're right on the money. How sad...
