I read an article today where National Defense Director Dennis Blair told a Senate Panel that the the economy, not terrorism was our biggest threat to our National Security (link below). Although the article focuses more on the global economy than on the US, it is an interesting parallel given OBL saying a few years ago that Al Qeada's goal is was not to beat us militarily, but to bankrupt us to make us more susceptible to attacks. I know it was our own fiscal mismanagement and irresponsibility that caused the US crisis and nothing that an Islamic fundamentalist did or didn't do that caused it, but does that really matter? The fact that it's on the brink of happening is kind of scary. Any thoughts? LINK 1 LINK2
