I was informed that he tore 30% of his groin and he is not likely to play for the Flordia game. What are yall thoughts on how this will affect the tigers offense and his draft status?

I dont' think it will be enough of an issue to swing a game.

I think that LSU's run at a NC this year will be on the shoulder's of the defense. Just like in 2003, the offense this year doesn't need to do too much more than protect the football, and simply "don't lose the game".
As long as the defense stays healthy, I don't see anything short of a major breakdown hurting LSU.

The only other concearn is what kind of effect this will have on Doucet's draft status. I hope they don't try to rush things and risk creating a long lasting injury that would start to scare scouts.

If he tore his groin he would not have been walking around on the sidelines in the MTSU game.

I doubt he will be out that long. I think Miles is just saying it to confuse opponents.

He PULLED his groin...a high pull...much like the one Griffey Jr. experienced last night vs the Cubs...for those that pay attention to MLB. I've heard that "high groin pull" means that it hurts up to the abdomen.

I disagree because now we need somebody to step up big time at WR. Yes we have the talented players to do so, but playing in front of so many people and utilizing that talent is still different. Doucet has been a great leader for the WR from what Ive seen, heard, read, etc. and that type of vteran leadership will be missed. Plus, while the defense is our teams bread and butter, I truely believe that when we play our best on both sides of the ball, we can not only beat any team in the country (also playing their best) but that we could win by atleast 10 points. We finally have an offense that can score seemingly at will versus good defenses (not, as in 2003, "just dont lose the game for us") and losing any starter is not a good thing. Now Im not calling "doom and gloom" at all, but I would really like to see Early play in as many games as possible as he is really breaking out for us as a great reciever.

Hopefully, the injury isnt too serious, but, as someone has already said, I dont want to rush him back. Id love to see him win a NC here and become our fourth first round WR in five years (seven first day WR in that same span).

I would say let him rest well and have a more complete heal. No point in stringing out the injury trying to play while in the process of healing. We WILL need him towards the end of the season.

The ED news would have really made me nervous before the MTSU game. But I like the look of Lafell, J. Mitchell and Byrd for our 3 receiver set. Either Tolliver or C. Mitchell for the number 4 guy. Lafell looks ready to step up and be a 7-10 catch guy week in and week out (based on VT game as well). We'll be fine.

I was thinking the same thing :thumb:

While I would love to have him in there, I don't think we'll miss a step.
