ESPN makes me sick. I was looking at some game images of the LSU-Bama game and it had a picture of Dwayne. The caption started off saying: LSU wide receiver Dwayne Brown. Give me a break. You know if it was USC, Texas, Alabama, or THE U, their names would be perfect. Any thoughts on this? In my opinion , that's disrespect towards LSU. Oh well, we're 8-1 and I'm ready to beat on some Rebels.:eek:lefire:

It's a mistake, it happens. Makes them look stupid, but I don't let myself get worked up over every little thing anymore. Four or five years ago, I'd probably have gotten worked up over it, but it just doesn't have much of a point.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - LSU coach Les Miles never lost faith, even with a 10-0 halftime deficit to Alabama and an offense that had produced scant yards.

After all, what's a few points to a team that has endured Hurricane Katrina's aftermath and an awful collapse against Tennessee?

``There was never any question that this football team would respond,'' Miles said after the fourth-ranked Tigers' 16-13 overtime win over the previously unbeaten Crimson Tide on Saturday.

With the win, LSU (8-1, 5-1 Southeastern Conference) emerged as the SEC West front-runner and is the league's last team standing in the hunt for a national championship. The Tigers, who have won seven consecutive games, jumped the Tide into fourth in the AP Top 25.

Alabama (9-1, 6-1) fell four spots to No. 8.

It's a remarkable turnaround for an LSU team that blew a 21-0 halftime lead in falling 30-27 to Tennessee on Sept. 26, the first of three overtime games the Tigers have played against ranked teams.

LSU has put itself in this position with overtime wins against its top SEC West challengers, Auburn and Alabama, in the past three weeks.

The Tigers had also been forced to play their scheduled home opener against Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz., with their campus housing hurricane refugees and serving as a staging area for relief workers.

Three times, the home opener was delayed.

If anything, that made it sweeter for the Tigers when JaMarcus Russell rolled right and hit Dwayne Bowe for an 11-yard touchdown pass in overtime, capping a game where the defenses waged a terrific standoff. Neither team reached 300 yards in total offense.

Like their coach, tailback Justin Vincent said the Tigers believed they would pull it out - despite managing just 72 total yards in the first half.

``We know this team,'' Vincent said. ``The coaches told us when we came into the huddle to calm down and take a deep breath, everything was going to be all right.''

Now, the Tigers need wins at Mississippi and at home against Arkansas to secure the SEC West title and figure to be heavy favorites in both games.

If LSU loses one of those games, then the Alabama-Auburn winner will play in the league championship game on Dec. 3 - likely against Georgia.

``Maybe because of our loss early, some teams should be ahead of us,'' said defensive tackle Kyle Williams, who made an emotional halftime speech. ``But with the guys on our team, I'd like to go up against anyone.''

Tide quarterback Brodie Croyle is realistic about his team's championship chances.

``That's a very talented football team we just played and very deserving of their ranking,'' he said. ``They would have to play not their best football and the other team would have to play their best of the year by far to have a chance to win. But anything's possible.''

LSU moved 62 yards on its opening drive of the third quarter against the nation's No. 1 scoring defense after running for only 1 yard on 14 first-half carries. Vincent scored on fourth-and-1 for the Tigers first points.

``Coach told us the first five minutes of the second half will take it all,'' Russell said. ``We came out pretty quick. You have to play your heart out for that. When things happen like in the first half, you have to get together as a team and go after them.''

Alabama's struggling offense, which had produced only one touchdown in winning its last three SEC games, couldn't respond. This time the Tide defense couldn't overcome the offensive woes.

``Playing a good LSU defense, you're not going to just run it down the field on them,'' Croyle said. ``We knew their best punch would come at some point in time and it came in the second half. And we didn't counter-punch.''
