Dwayne Bowe leads SEC in touchdown receptions, is tied for first in the SEC in scoring, and is second in receiving yards.

JaMarcus Russell tied for second in SEC in touchdown passes and fifth in passing yards despite playing less than four quarters in the first two games!

JaMarcus Russell is the fifth highest rated quarterback in the SEC after two games (ahead of Matt Jones and David Greene).

It is funny to hear "David Greene" and "Heisman" mentioned in the same sentence.

He reminds me of, say, a Jay Barker more than anything: average, usually takes care of the ball, doesn't make mistakes and lets his defense win his games for him.

I would rather these guys be rated ahead of those others at the end of the game. Not before we start SEC play.

Was he the QB of their national championship team in '92? I remember thinking he was overrated at the time and don't think he ever played in the NFL but I could be wrong.

Barker was like Mauck in that he won a lot of games, might have lost one or two that he started in his career. But Bama won with defense and a ball control offense. He didn't have near the seasons Mauck did. But he also had one incredible game vs UGA when UGA had Zeier and they got into a shootout and I think Bama won. It may have been the only time Barker threw more than 15 passes in a game.

yep he won the NC. He wasn't flashy but he was a winner like Mauck. Winning isnt about gaudy stats.....

Greene is not a bad QB.....he's struggled at times but hes not bad by any means.

I guess the funniest thing to me was Chris Rix having odds on him in Vegas for winning the Heisman. Not even sure his family woulda wagered a dollar on that.
