Former LSU asst baseball coach and asst. Ad Beetle Bailey passed away around 3 am this morning.

This is being reported on WJBO by Matt Kennedy who said he got a call from a family member early this morning. No details.

I used to sit by his parents at the Box in the early to mid 90's. They were really nice.

    That's tough...RIP Coach...

I had the honor of meeting Coach Bailey at the SLU baseball camp a few years back when my son attended it during the summer. He was really good with the kids. I talked with him after parents day (he gave a great speech) and I told him how much my son enjoyed his coaching. Of course he just humbly said he enjoyed working with kids and was glad my son could take a little something home.

I attribute a lot of LSU's success in baseball to him. I got to meet him at one of LSU's baseball camps. He will be greatly missed.

I am not positive, but I think he had Pancreatic (sp?) cancer.

I wish your wife the best of luck and hope she gets well soon.
