Took a weekend trip to New Orleans and stopped and toured your campus on the way back. Just wanted to say you have a beautiful campus and Tiger Stadium was awesome. Expected to get dirty looks or the bird, because I had Hog stickers on the car, but everyone was nice. What are y'all doing to the stadium? And was there a baseball game Sunday at Alex Box? Saw alot of guys wearing LSU gameday uniforms walking into the stadium.
Thanks.. We take pride in our campus... The stadium, if you have ever been there, or have seen it on TV, has an upper deck on the east and west sides of the stadium, both built at different times. The East stadium was built in 1926, west in 1932, north in 1937, south in 1957, the west upper deck in 1978, and the east upper deck in 2000 (or at least it was completed for the 2000 season). The original seating capacity was 12,000 in 1926 and now it "seats" 91,600, but the record is 92,251 I believe, against Georgia in 2003. http://football.ballparks.com/NCAA/SEC/LSU/aerial.jpg This picture will basically show you what I am saying... The sides are different, so the stadium isn't symmetrical. They tore down the west upper deck (on the left of the picture), and are currently rebuilding it to look identical to the other side. I think this is in plans to, in the distant future, completely close out the upper deck. Man thinking about the stadium is getting me way to excited about football season.. HogNation, we'd like you to stick around. We need a Hog fan to harass. :hihi: We've got our resident Rebel, Aubies, and Tider. We need to finish out the SEC west....
I don't see us enclosing another endzone in the upper deck anytime soon. Hell, we don't actually fill all the seats against cupcakes. 92K is plenty big engough IMO. Adding another 15K or so wouldn't be justified IMO unless season ticket sales increased dramatically. In the Advocate this morning, someone from the AD's office(Broussard I believe) said that we had just under 67K season tickets sold. Bigger isn't always better.
Ohhhhh, ok. I see want Berge meant now. I thought he was saying 'close' the upper deck. I was like 'wtf'?
LSU has got to have one of the best campus' in trhe country. Where else is there 250+ live oaks and a building that shakes?
anyone else have joe dean pop in your mind when you saw 'drove through your campus'. not sure why but everytime i see that i think of ole joe. doesn't even have 'lake' in it.
