Browsing through some articles on Iowa football, I saw that Tate and Flynn both attended Lee High about the same time. I remembered that Flynn was one of the better QBs in the country while in hs. So who was the starter, or who played the most, or who was better at Lee?

Flynn was from Tyler Robt. E. Lee and Tate was from Baytown Robert E. Lee. Tate had the better career numbers.

Here are Tate's career numbers and where he ranks in Texas high school football all-time record book:

    Completions 970 1st; 2nd has 589

    Passing Yards 12,183 1st; 2nd has 8,525

LOL! That explains A LOT then...

I surely didn't remember hearing that before, and I'm pretty sure it would have come up at SOME point... It just proves that there is sooo much to learn in dealing with recruiting. There are sooo many players, different high schools--speaking of which, why in the hell would one state have two high schools named after Robert E. Lee? I would expect that in Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi or Tennessee, but Texas? I would expect a myriad of schools named after the Bush family... Which I'm sure there are many. :hihi: Then again, they have so many dang schools...

Alabama has two schools named after the general. Montgomery-Lee and Huntsville-Lee. They also have one named after Jefferson Davis.

Flynn carried his team his senior year as all of the offensive talent left the year before. I listened to a few games via the internet and his play reminded me a bit of Robert Lane at Neville his senior year. He would be stuck in a 4th down situation in the fourth quarter and would just will his team to the first down/win.

Makes me wonder where little Bobby E. Lee went to high school. Perhaps George Washington High in Alexandria?

Actually Texas has another....Robert E. Lee in Midland. So they seem pretty obsessed with the ol General. Or they run out of names since they have so many schools.

Cedric Benson's alma mater and victim to West Monroe H.S. in '98.

In fact, WMHS beat Midland-Lee and Moss Point that year. Each team won the state championship their class in their respective states that year. Only WM was undefeated.
