It was indeed a great play. An absolute dagger to the heart of UF! I think Jasper is not getting enough credit here also. There were some defenders coming from the inside so he went kind of wide. Otherwise, I think he would have been dropped for a loss had he actually caught the ball in mid air like the play was executed in the USCe game a few years back. That was a very heads up move on his part.
Wonder if that's where the bounce came into factor? He strung it out wide when he saw the crashing in and it kinda disrupted things... Hmmmm
When coaches call a play like the fake field goal, if it works, they're a genius, if it doesn't, their an idiot. Unless you're Les Miles. Dude can't win with some.
I do agree, but I think there is a difference between luck and execution. Luck is when the other team fumbles, execution is when your guy sees the fumble and capitalizes by dropping himself on the ball to recover it. I personally feel that luck had very little to do with the execution of the fake field goal. It was probably practiced many times by this team so as to almost completely negate the chance of bad variables happening. The team saw the opportunity, called the play, and made the 1st down. Was it risky? Hell yeah. Can't wait until we are 7-0.
Stated just fine! Nothing wrong with being critical but SUPPORT your team, and stop Booo-ing the Tigers in Death Valley
Pretty good post up to here. One loss is not gonna do Bama any harm. In fact, it may have been just what they needed. USCe played the perfect game to beat them. Everyone else will have to do the same. We have played no where near a perfect game at any point this year.
I sometimes wonder if some of us pop in and out form alternate universes and see things differently in an infinite number of occurrences. Miles is 56-15, 30-13 in league play. Urban Meyer is 61-12, 34-10 in league play. Nick Saban is 38-9, 22-5 in league play. He's right up there with the elite of the league and you say he has been lucky for 5 years. Yeah...I see your point... :rolleye33:
Well .. maybe I read your post wrong, but it seemed to be in the line of thought that focuses on all that we are doing wrong. .. just like just about every other post in this forum. Yeah .. coaching mistakes, penaly mistakes, execution mistakes, etc etc. But the one positive is that we are progressing and getting better each week, unlike last year and the year before when we went down hill through the end of the season. Even in the coaching .. the coach has to figure out how to coach "THIS" group of guys to success. A "one coaching approach fits all" gig doesn't work, because each team has different strengths and weaknesses. Just ask Urban Meyer!! .. doing the Tebow thing ain't cuttin it with this group. I think Les is starting to figure out some things .. primarily the offense. Having those tihngs off his plate free's his mind up to focus more on other things that he's been catching a lot of heat over. ... so ... on to Mc-Knees. But hey ... we are on the same page ... if LSU progresses into and through the Auburn and Alabama Game, this team could do great things. :geaux:
