Because in the style of spread offense that Meyer runs, Tim Tebow is a gift from God. He can beat you with his arm and his legs at any given time. Percy Harvin is simply an athletic freak. But don't forget that Florida struggled the first half of the season before Meyer figured out how to use Demps in his offense.

Conversely, the strength of the spread is also its biggest weakness, namely the entire offense runs through the QB. If Tebow went down today their NC hopes are finished. Harvin is likely gone at season's end, and Tebow is a lock for Top 5 if not #1 overall pick, so it's not a given that he'll return for his senior year. And I'm not aware of another Florida QB who has the potential to be anywhre near Tebow's caliber. So I guess what I'm saying is that it's not as likely that Florida is going to turn into some kind of perennial SEC juggernaut as you may think. Talent and experience levels are cyclical, and it's now harder than ever in this league to dominate year in and year out, much harder than it ever was during the Spurrier years.

No. ESPN draft masters Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. say Tebow might be an H-back in the NFL. As a QB, his release takes too long and his experience in the spread reminds too many of Alex Smith, who bombed as the #1 overall pick.

Expect to see #15 back for the Gators in 2009.

I agree. College QBs who are primarily shotgun QBs don't fare well in the pros. Danny Weurffel, Jesse Palmer, Doug Johnson, Rex Grossman, Alex Smith, Chris Leak, etc have all bombed out in the pros.

He'll be like Eric Crouch, who was drafted as a WR. Tebow could possibly be drafted high as a fullback, but will gripe and complain about not being a QB.

You're kidding, right?? Tebow was a consensus 5-star QB and is the size of a LB while Lee was listed as a 3-star QB and is more the size of your standard QB.

Tebow won the Heisman because he RUSHED for just as many, if not more, TD's than he threw. He was instrumental in helping Florida to a BCS title due to his physicality RUNNING THE BALL!!!

You're compairing apples to oranges. Lee ISN'T a Tebow-type! Quite frankly, NO ONE IS! There has NEVER been a QB in college football that is THAT much of a "mule" and is used the way he has been. Christ! Tebow is completely different from that of a Vince Young, Pat White or Terrell Pryor!

What?! Because they play the same position you feel it valid that they be compared to one another??! That's absurd! So Trindon Holiday plays the same position as Michael Crabtree. Does that mean Holiday is a failure because he doesn't put up the same numbers? Heck no! They are COMPLETELY different WR's!

And blow Meyer's horn all you want and whine and b*tch about "Florida taking over the SEC the way they did when they had Spurrier" because a year ago, Florida had MORE loses than WE HAVE NOW!

Christ! I want to bang my head into a freak'n wall trying to explain this crap to people like you! OU, 'Bama, Florida...ALL OF THOSE TEAMS HAD WORSE SEASONS THAN WE ARE CURRENTLY HAVING AS RECENTLY AS LAST SEASON! And ALL of them are top 5 teams within two seasons!

Quit crying! This IS the SEC! And I'm THANKFUL that there is parity and not a Pac 10 or Big Ten-type where it's "one team and everyone else"! You want the SEC to be considered the best, but you're not willing to accept when we have 3 loses in a season???

Let me spare you the suspense: There are no fewer than 85% of ALL programs across the country that WISHED that their "down year" consisted of 3 or 4 loses! Just ask Michigan. Just ask Wisconsin. Just ask Florida St. Just ask Miami. Just as Notre Dame. Auburn. Clemson. Tennessee....Shall I go on or has it sunk in yet???

Tebow was eased into the lineup with a senior QB ahead of him, not given a baptism by fire like Lee.

Trindon Holiday is a track star that plays football. Demps and Harvin are football players with pretty close to world class speed.

Irrelevant. A win is a win.

    What?

That's your problem right there. You're scared.

Eloquent, intelligent, the epitome of ethos.

I'm sure every time Lee throws a pick-six, you moonwalk across the floor with confidence in the direction of the LSU program.

Then, after the game, you open your first-edition copy of Proust's Time Regained, and contemplate the meaning of life.

No I don't. But I don't have my head buried in the sand because I'm not "Mr. Negativity" like yourself, where every misfortune automatically gets magnified to unrealistic proportions either.

You misrepresent my position. Here it is:

There is no evidence that Jarrett Lee learns from his mistakes. This coupled with his total lack of mobility makes him a nonviable QB for a team who wishes to win SEC championships in the 21st century. And it will be at least two more years before another QB is groomed enough in the Tiger system to be ready to take the reins of the offense. (Jefferson or Sheppard may be ready in 2010.)

Add to this an underachieving defense who can't get QB pressure or cover quick passes in the flat or cover top-notch receivers one-on-one.

And add to that special teams that are mediocre at best.

My concern is that LSU will not be competing for an SEC title again for a while, that's all. And, as someone who lives in the Volunteer state, I do not wish to see my Tigers slowly dwindle into what Tennessee has become!

    Fair enough?
