These people should shut up, sing the songs they were paid to sing, and go home. I don't care what side of the fence you are on, if people want political commentary they will watch the news, not buy an over-priced ticket to see some washed up has-been spouting political beliefs. :cuss: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=39761
'We used to be able to have civil debate in this country. Not anymore' - don henley you cant have civil debate at your concerts anymore? before, did you quit playing and have a sit-down with some republicans and discuss welfare reform? dumbass, ITS A CONCERT!
Something tells me that tickets to a Don Henley CIVIL DEBATE wouldn't sell as fast as tickets to a Don Henley CONCERT... :dis: Nothing sucks more than musicians telling me how to vote... ...EXCEPT politicians telling me what music I should be listening to... ...It's about time Ol' Babs cranks up the "Last Tour Ever in My Life" so she can get on top of her game in preaching THE DEMOCRATIC WAY about the upcoming election... ...conveniently Kerry will show up at EVERY show... :dis:
I'm not sure if I'll ever understand why those in the entertainment field, whether that be actors, singers, professional athletes, and the like find it necessary to involve themselves in causes, political or otherwise. If I pay to see Don Henley or Linda Ronstadt or Toby Keith or the Dixie Chicks sing, by golly that's just what I want them to do....sing. Entertain. Politics is the last thing I want to think about if I'm going out to be entertained. And I also don't want to be encouraged to donate to the AIDS Foundation or Save the Salamanders or Disabled Dykes on Bikes, etc. Just sing......... Went to see Rodney Crowell the other night and he almost crossed the line but evidently thought better of it. Without mentioning any candidate, he encouraged the audience to exercise their right to vote. Smart.
