Do you think the coaches will adjust their defense to Jones' running?

It seemed to me in the Ole Miss game that we should have been spying Lane. Did anyone else think that? I know that Saban knows a thousand times more about coaching defense than me. Do y'all think the coaches will do a different scheme to try to spy Jones?

Jones beat us with his passing two years ago and kept us out of the SECCG with a last-minute TD. It ain't just his running that Nick will be planning for.

I'm sure we will keep an eye on him but as far as I know he played last week
hurt. I think it was some kind of leg injury, but don't hold me to that. Anyway
I think he is still a good player that you must account for or he will burn you with big plays (by air or running).

3 years ago Jones ran for 85 yards on 13 carries and throw for 118 yards on 5 of 10 passing with 2 ints.

In 2002 he was 4 of 16 passing with that 1 TD for 127 yards. Without us playing that darn prevent he would have been 2 for 16 for about 50 yards.

Last year he was 4 of 12 for 100 yards with 2 TD's and 2 INT's. He ran for 10 yards on 7 carries with 1 sack included in that total for a minus 18 yards.

I think we've bottled him up very well and he has not passed well vs LSU at all, so i think we will try and play him the same way we have in the past, with only minor adjustments.

I wouldn't worry about his running anyway. He couldn't beat us with better personnel around him (Yeah, I know about 2002 but MJ stunk it up the entire game) and there's no reason to think he'll light us up this year. Jones is all hype and no substance. He runs like a deer but usually ends up dead at the end of a blood trail.

I am glad you think that. You better hope your team does not feel the same way or he will burn him. The reason LSU has been so good at containning him is because they respected his running ability. Ask anyone that has played aginst the Hogs this year. Matt is the real deal. Yes he is injured but he will be about 85% Friday and he will put it all on the line.

    That hog won't hunt

We all are aware of what a healthy Matt Jones adds to the Hog attack

85% value here ... from what source

Look at Jones running stats over the past several games since his injury at Auburn

4 rushes for 63 yards against UA

6 rushes for 44 yards against UGA

10 rushes for 111 yards in a loss at USC

5 rushes for 126 yards against Ole Miss

... he busts through for big plays with 4.4 speed ... his trademark since he QB'd at Fort Smith in the 90's and one reason why I had LSU chasing him during recruiting then

4 rushes for 11 yards against MSU where he was clearly slowed by the injury -----> netted only 11 yards ... why?

Was it a cold starkville day?

Was it the success he had passing on MSU?

Surely, Jones could have busted a big play against Moo U :hihi:

JONES IS REALLY HURT AND WILL NOT RUN AGAINST LSU ... so where will LSU focus ... Dee Howard and pressure against Jones and the option passing attack

Arkansas will not stop LSU's rushing attack ... and that will be the big difference in the game ...

55 points and Vincent running amok ... don't count on it again this year ...

27-13 ... with Broussard battering away against the UA dee on a beautiful sunny afternoon ... more likely

    Good solid heads up D

is what we need to stop Ark. They come up with something brand new every year -- there's no way to target one aspect of their O. Our linebackers need to play heads up ball this week, more than ever.
