I doubt Miles has any regrets but dont discount what this may do for Okie State. Make no mistake, this kind of money is an enormous amount for any school. When you consider what can be done to upgrade facilites and staff they will ultimately garner some rewards from it. I dont expect them to become some national power right away but they sure have taken a step in being able to get there at some point. Money is over half the battle and they just took care it for a long time.
Of course LSU is a better job than OSU. What amazing is that OSU is going to have super nice facilities very soon. On top of that, they are going to have a full blown Athletic Village that no university will be able to rival. At least not for sometime. They are already buying up the land and forcing people to move out of their houses. This project alone is going to be 1/2 billion dollars. Better that T Boone give his money to some college than to the Fed Gov.
(Speaking as an OSU fan) what worries me is that with Pickin's micro-managing (which I think is already happening to an extent, and will only get worse) that the infighting in the ath. dept. will make all of the improvements moot. I hope I am wrong, but at this point, I just don't have a good feeling about other issues.
Notre dame is in south bend, not much there either besides being somewhat close to Chicago. I think this will certainly help okla state jump out of the basement of the Big 12 and compete on a higher level.
Read the rest of his quote and it answers your question, I believe. Here it is: "Developing those facilities will help move the university into a new era, both in athletics and academics. Athletics have proven to be a significant contributor in the academic success of an institution, both from a fundraising and a performance perspective"
