I will be pulling for all the SEC teams in bowls this year, even AU (as painfull as it will be). The SEC has been disrespected all year. This is the time to show the country that the SEC is still the BEST FOOTBALL CONFERENCE IN AMERICA!
Absolutely - EXCEPT when another SEC team is in the running for a possible NC. For example, I did not want Auburn to win last year and go undefeated.
I say if you're not pulling for the SEC in every non-conference game throughout the season and in the bowls then don't gripe when you feel like the conference isn't fully respected by the media and others. In order for the SEC to maintain and improve it's position in the national eye, we must all win more. And the more our opponents win, the better it is for us when we beat them. It also gives those of us living in other conference headquarters some good fodder when we beat up on their conferences.
I want the SEC to be the most dominant conference in the country, so I absolutely pull for the SEC teams and even more so this year. I want the nation to realize just how hard it was for LSU to defeat Florida (8-3), Auburn (9-2), Alabama (9-2). I want the nation to understand that playing every week in the SEC is tough even against the bottom feeders. Think about this, if I told you LSU would have to play Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Tennesee and Georgia all in the same season, most would be like...man, no way that's friggin tough! Well the Tigers did and went 3-2. I'd rather 5-0 or even 4-1, but 3-2 ain't bad. Plus, it's all about money. The more for the SEC, the more for LSU. So, yes, I root for the SEC to win every game.
I was talking to a graduate of LSU, in Atlanta, that is now on the board of one of the bowls. I asked him the same question and he stated that he only pulls for LSU. His reason was that he thinks it helps us (LSU) in recruiting. I can see his point, but I just can't pull against our conference.
I did want AU to win the NC last year--because it would've taken the focus away from "USC is repeating" to "The SEC West has had the last two national champions." Think about it...
