Do we remain in the top 25 with this beating?

I think we might stay in at around 23 or 24.

I think we will still be ranked, somewhere between 20 - 25. Lose against FL and we could drop out, but I still feel we will end up being ranked somewhere in the top 15 - 20 to end the season.

I agree. I posted a couple of weeks ago after the Auburn game that we would be a top 15 team by years end. I think it take a 9-3 record to get there. One more loss against Florida, Alabama or Arkansas

I have to disagree, if we lose to Fl next week and drop out of the Top 25, then there isn't enough fire power left on our plate to boost up our ranking.

We will be #20-#22 or so after this loss. We will be facing a #13-#14 Florida team.

I don't think it matters if we are ranked or not.

What matters is that this team gets its act together and just competes week after week.
The concentration of the players has to get better.
To many penalties, turnovers, missed tackles and poor execution at times = a long
season if they don't improve because we won't win too many games.

Do rankings matter at this point?

They sorta do and they sorta don't. They don't really matter right now because we just lost and looked very pathetic. If we beat Florida next week and we were unranked when we did, we still would be unranked. If we beat Florida I would want to be ranked, but right now I really don't care.

We should be about 22 or 23. We still did lose to the #3 team on the road.

Florida win gets us back in the top 20. But at this point, we need to focus on getting Russell all the snaps we can between now and next year's NC season. And get this O-line and D-line toughened up as well.

I agree because anything other than #1 isn't what you are playing for and we can't even dream that big at this point in the season. I would like to see the team play sound football and compete each week. We need to look for steady improvement and some developement of team chemistry.

No, they never really do during the regular season. But it is an interesting diversion during the season for fans. Granted all the things mentioned in this thread, other than rankings, are more important when you are talking general football. Being prepared for each game and giving good effort is more important than rankings.

That said, I don't think it has to be all or nothing for this program. Sure, #1 is all that matters, but it would be nice to stay ranked and live up to expectations. Finishing every season with 3 or 4 losses that you don't win a NC would be nice, and that kind of success would be reflected in the rankings.
