Oh you know what stats we are discussing!

Most everyone on this board reads dandy don. Let me help you, they were the Big group of numbers that compared last year to this year.---- I did try to cut and paste the stat's, it just did not work. As far as saying that Lee was <or> than Mett really was not my intention nor does it matter. We have been pretty good lately with the QB's that we have had.

I would like to see us be able to pass the ball allot better than we are doing right now. It's not horrible, but its not great either. I believe that it has been a lack of having a great offensive coordinator. I believe the only way we can beat Bama is with both a strong passing game and running game.

Yeah, I saw a high school qb do it VERY well last week. Seriously.

Trust me, I did NOT know what stats. I went to Dandy Don to see though. No thanks to a link or something productive.

What I found was that there's some similarities in offensive numbers. What I also found was even on that very blog, Scott acknowledges that there's no question Mett>Lee, regardless of the numbers. Lee had decent numbers last season, just like JJs. Literally...just like em. Wanna compare the two as QB though? And Mett's numbers are better, ever so slightly. Mett hasn't been in these games late padding stats.

What is the point of the thread? To discuss that Lee should've played more late in the season? In the BCSCG? Because his stats are similar to Mett's this season to date? I don't get it. You talk about how JJ had "deer in the headlights" look. See Lee his whole career. They both sucked. What's the point though? They both graduated, although it took one of them a full 5 years...but nonetheless, they're both gone. Fortunately, LSU has moved on. Fans? Not so much apparently. Still stuck in last year. Sad.

We were 13-1 last year.....they hardly sucked! Wow what is the point of a thread that discusses LSU football that gets people to talk about .......wait for it..........Football? You seem to have a negative agenda for everything.

No, the negative agenda is starting a thread about something that's over, that nobody can go back and change, to gripe about it...literally months after the fact.
I'm more often called a sunshine pumper than negative. Just so we're clear, I'm saying Mett (the current LSU QB) is really good, better than we've had in the past few years. That's a positive statement on multiple levels. It shows that I don't live in the past, don't worry about things I can't change, and am excited about the current state of the program. Where's the negative agenda in that? You started a negative thread, and you're accusing me of a negative agenda?

Some people just ain't never gonna be happy; no sense in trying to reason with 'em.

I think we are passing the ball very well. I don't expect Mett to go 25 for 25 with 500 yards. I like his presence in the pocket. You aren't on the end of the seat wondering if he is going to do well. I think that is what we are all conditioned to.

Granted ..that feeling eased a little bit for me last year with Lee .. but it came right back when CLM replaced Lee with JJ.

But I think the BIGGEST difference I see, is that it seems CLM has more confidence in Mett than either Lee or JJ .. and that is HUGE. CLM is willing to risk it a bit more with Mett, which makes our offense a little less predictable. I'm seeing a few more mid level passes, which is what beat us in the the NCG last year.

I agree with Fish. Stats dont' tell the whole story. Lee had great stats last year. Lee did great last year. But I don't think we could have beat Bama with Lee ... because of CLM .. not Lee himself.

Mett is doing great this year. Last game ... 182 rating, which is pretty dang good. I'm not worried about the Ints either .... I saw Mr First Round Draft Pick Andrew Luck throw several ints last year. But his coach still had confidence in him. Lee didn't enjoy that perk. I think that is the biggest difference.

Let's face it ... for the last 4 years .. our offense has been a cluster f*ck .... with no real identiy other than a hell of stable of running backs. Here's to moving past that.

    Nice response.

I guess the concern to me about the passing game is the similarity between the numbers through 3 games vs last year. We threw the ball about the same amount of times for the exact same average. Let's keep in mind last year that we did not play three cupcakes in a row. So in my opinion, because of the competition we are facing we are doing a worse job in the passing game.

I believe we need a new offensive coordinator.

We need another offensive coordinator like Jimbo Fisher. He was brilliant about setting an offense up based on the talent of his QB, and coaching the QB.

Yes, 500 yds of offense in not good enough. I want more too.
