Rice says US-Iraq coming together on timetables

Wait a second, I thought withdrawing the troops was only a partisan democrat idea, that doing this would concede defeat. Since Obama and Clinton said that they would withdraw the troops, republicans assailed them on this point. Calling them cut and run, failures, conceding defeat. Now the administration is making deals with the Iraqi government on getting out.

My question is did we win the war yet?

The plan was always to get out once the Iraqis could take over.

Nothing to see here. Please keep moving.

We won the war in 21 days, destroyed their military, shocked and awed their people, and sacked their capital. War over. The astonishing thing is that the Bush administration believes that the subsequent foolish occupation of the country is also a war to be won. What nonsense. You "win" an occupation by simply leaving.

    They got nuthin' we need.

We kicked Tennessee's ass for a half and didn't show up for the 2nd half. What was accomplished?

It's like that episode of Seinfeld, you want to leave on a high note. That's all for me, I'm outta here!

Try to get that out of your head the rest of the day, I dare you.

Poor analogy. Last year we kicked Tennessee's butt in 4 quarters. Should we have then gone and occupied Tennessee, spending a Trillion Dollars of borrowed money in a mmisguided and futile attempt to make them like us and become Tigers?

Be careful with your analogies Red. Last year, there was talk around here of Georgia "reclaiming" a part of Tennessee, as the survey done back in the 1800's was wrong. Georgia wanted access to the Tennessee River to relieve the drought, and the surveyor missed it by about a mile.

McCain will stay in Iraq for 100 years with no idea of what constitutes "victory". Obama will get our troops home in 16 months and get them ready to deal with the next real threat. Why in the world do you think it is a proper use of our fine military force to act as policemen in a country where they hate us and to babysit their internal squabbles?
