"You're paying $3.80 here in Nashville for gas, and it could go up!" -- Obama He says as gas prices are declining across the nation... Oil is down under $90 a barrel, its lowest price in 8 months. Demand for oil is decreasing not only here, but in China and elsewhere. The Chinese government has not bought oil for at least 2 months. Just scare tactics here...
Average gas price in Tennessee today is $3.56 a gallon. $3.54 here in La. $3.67 nationwide. http://www.ouraaa.com/news/news/fuel.html
I loved the beginning: Obama statement 1: The economic crisis is Bush and McCain's fault. Obama statement 2 (after McCain pointed out Obama connections to Fannie/Freddie): No one here wants to listen to politicians pointing fingers. Obama statement 3: The economic crisis is Bush and McCain's fault.
The format sucked. The only thing that came out very clear was that McCain is definitely on the offensive since he is slipping badly in the polls. He was attaking Obama at every chance even when it was unimportant to the topic.
McCain officially lost my vote tonight. This proposal of the government buying toxic mortgages is a scary step towards socialism. That would be a collective pooling of private assets, and I cannot support a candidate who advocates such a thing. I am definitely going third party this year.
He wins Louisiana with or without you. Vote for Mickey Mouse if you like. I agree with you though...the idea of our government buying and restructuring distressed mortgages is crazy. Let the mortgage companies make the decision which mortgages to restructure or foreclose on. Once again a politician is advocating even more heavy handed government involvement in private business....big surprise.
That is kind of a win win for me. I don't have to support McCain, a candidate whose only appeal to me is that he is not the other guy, or Obama who has no appeal to me. To me it demonstrates that their is no difference in the two parties as they exist today. Both parties are pursuing practices that increase the power of the federal government. Where are the capitalists in our government?
