Story about China and US leading the world in execution. Kinda scary, I have mixed feelings about capital punishment. However, do you think it should be uniform for every state? Or how it stands now, were some states have outlawed it and others will fry you for just about anything? How many of you are for the death penalty or against it! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24121932/
i am a slight lean to pro. although obviously death sentences are handed down way too often. basically need to not consider eyewitness testimony and there must be copious forensic evidence.
I am sort of unsure on this one. Don't get me wrong, I have no remorse for those who get the juice and could really care less about them. I think it should be same across the board and they should all get the juice. None of that mamby pamby lethal injection crap. I want their eye balls to bounce off the opposite wall. My only regret is that they don't suffer the way that their victims did. I guess what I'm trying to say is death just may be a little too good for them in some regards. On the flip side, why should tax payers bear the burden of supporting these creatins. I'll have to think about it more.
One interesting thing I learned about the death penalty is that the United States is the only Western country that still uses it. The death penalty has been abolished in all of Europe, Canada, and Australia, and many other countries across the world. Countries that still use it include Japan, as well as China, North Korea, Cuba, and pretty much every Arab country. Granted, its unfair to say that the whole United States uses the death penalty. There are 14 states in the US that have abolished the death penalty, including New York (3rd largest US state by population), Michigan (8th largest state), New Jersey (11th largest state), and Massachusetts (15th largest state). The District of Columbia (home to our nation's capital) has also abolished the death penalty. Note to murderers: move to those countries and U.S. states that have abolished the death penalty, they won't kill you there.
You know in Saudi Arabia you rape a child, off with your pecker. You steal some sh!t and they chop off a paw. Escape incarceration, head in a basket. Eye for an eye justified, hence LOW CRIME. Remember that little turd that went off with the spray paint in Singapore and he got caned? Believe that they no longer have a problem with spray painters in high heals. I say let the beatings begin. Alternative: They need dishwashers too!
This one id tough for me for many different reasons. I always has been for me. For a long time in my life I believed it was wrong and wouldn't listen pay attention to any other veiw then I had a personal tradegy that happened that changed my outlook completely. I will tell the story but bear with me because even after years it is not easy for me to discuss (though I think I may have done it here before in a shortened version). I was working at my friends poolroom helping him and his mom get the club started. His mom was 68 years old and retired military! I loved this woman and since moving to Orlando she had been loke a Mom to me. Every morning the three of us would be opening up the bar and talk for hours about everything. They had bought the poolroom from a guy we had all known forever and his family was like family to us. Anyway the old owner had a son, Josh, who would hang out a lot even after Jimmy (the old owner) had sold it. We took care of him as we felt he was a good kid. One day he needed drug money and him and his friends plotted the death of me, Kevin, and his Mom. Luckily Kevin and I were both running late that day and I was about 5 minutes behind Kevin. When we arrived to the bar, she had been shot execution style in the walk in cooler. We tried to do mouth to mouth and had to call 911 from our cell phones as the phone lines had been cut. The cops, detectives, crime scene units, etc all showed up and we had her blood all over us from trying to help her. I remeber the media all around us taking pictures (they were behind the line but it didn't matter) and me crying about getting the blood off me. That day comes back to me as snap shots as I don't remember any actually streaming memories. It was horrible. When the cops found out it was Josh and his buddy they arrested them and his buddy told the entire sotry to the police including the part of that they were suppose to kill 3 people but 2 of them weren't there. he described Kevin and I perfectly (plus we were the only other people ever there in the morning). This took the information he knew about the place and us and used it to plan the death of three and kill one. My immediate reaction was I wanted him dead and then my guilt set in for thinking that. I really struggled with this for years and now I fel no guilt for wanting this kid to have the death penalty. It was in cold blood. The detective told me that he knocked on the door and asked for a pack of cigarettes she let me in (I would have also, we had no clue he was messed up in drugs). He pulled the gun and told her to unlock safe, she did, he then put her on her knees in the coller and shot her in the head from behind. I wanted him dead and killed like that also. I relaize this isn't Christian nor may it be right to want revenge but I have come to terms with it and that is how I feel. Instead he got 2 life sentences and and some other years tacked on for other things and his first chance for parole will be when he is like 78 or something, he was 19 when he committed the crime.
The incident of crime may be low in Saudi Arabi, but so is the incident of freedom. But yes, that would be an interesting hypothetical to imagine the US abolishing the civilian world, and forcing every citizen to live their lives as a member of the military. But I still think that would be a little off the wall if we were caned or whipped or had our body parts chopped off.
Damn sure be a deterrent don't you think? Maybe make somebody think twice? Let me tell you from experience that washing dishes in the Army SUCKS! Guess what? I was never late again.
thats pretty sad and tuff to think about, I dont think I would have felt guilty for wanting him dead either.
If somebody took my own mom, made her get on her knees, put a gun to the back of her head, and blew her away execution-style, I still wouldn't want to see the guy given the death penalty. Granted, if I was right there, and I walked into that situation with a gun in my hand, I would have blow the guy's head off... in fact, if I got the jump on him, I would have made him drop his weapon, and then I just would have went straight-up sadistic on him, shooting him in the most painful parts of his body and watching him die slowly... but that's only because I was being super-emotional at the time. But, to me, and to my parents who raised me, the big picture is that my mom would not want me to pursue killing her murderer in cold blood like he did to her. To my parents and I, its better that we don't sink to the level of cold-blooded killers like they did to us. This is just the opinion of my two parents that raised me. Yet I love my parents so I want my kids to also understand that if I was killed in a cold-blooded evil murder, I would not want to see them sink to that murderer's level by promoting that he be murdered as well. Like I said, that's just the personal brain-washing that my parents have put on me. I don't expect anybody else to share my personal views that my parents raised me with, which to me are only applicable to my own family. If I was a public prosecutor, and another family wanted me to pursue the death penalty against the person that killed a member of their family, I would be proud to fulfill their wishes.
