Way to go Domanick. Knew he was talented, but that's impressive for a 4th round pick in his first year.
Let's just hope he keeps lighting it up (except against my Titans). I traded away Stephen Davis to shore up my receiving corp and defense because I had just picked up DD. So far, so good!
I always thought DD was the better of the two backs between him and Toefield. I also believed that Houston got a STEAL when they were able to wait until the 4th round to pick up DD.
I knew they got a steal, but I was never convinced that DD was better than Toe. In fact, Im still not so sure. Toefield just never had things go his way, but I always thought he was a very special back. I think we will see him in a starting role at some point in the future, also.
Toefield wasn't as stong of a runner, IMHO. I never believed that we got the production out of him that we did from DD. Additionally, Toefield was injury-prone. That wasn't his fault, but it may keep him from being successful in the NFL. I, personally, feel he would've benefitted from another year at LSU, much like Trev Faulk--who now won't have an NFL career--but probably would've fared differently had he remained for his senior year.
That's kind of eerie TitanTiger. Nobody drafted DD in my fantasy league but I picked him up after week 1. I could tell that he was going to get a chance at starting this year by the way Capers and Carr talked about him. Anyway, I traded Stephen Davis YESTERDAY for Randy Moss (straight up) so I'll have Shaun Alexander and DD starting now with Hambrick as a backup. WR's are killer now with Harrison, R. Moss, and Jimmy Smith (Josh Reed as a backup now). We're in a 12 team leauge so I'm feeling confident if my RBs stay healthy. Hopefully DD will be alright and play this week. I'm suprised you'd trade an Auburn Tiger in the middle of his breakout season. I noticed today Stephen Davis has a sprained ankle and is questionable this week. My league thinks I had some kind of "inside scoop."
I absolutely agree about Faulk and Toe leaving early- bad decisions. I always thought Toe was MORE powerful until he got injured. You're right, we was injury prone, but thats why we didnt get the production out of him that we did from DD. I just remember Toefields freshman year when he was just dominating. He came only 8 yards short of having 1,000 yards rushing in his freshman year (he did have well over 1000 all-purpose, though). Thats quite remarkable. Not to mention, he wouldve broken the 1000 yard mark had he not torn his ACL in the SECCG. I feel like that was the point where his decline in production began, and DD picked up the slack. Remember also that DD could never beat out Toefield for the starting job. DD only started when Toe was injured. Our coaches must have seen something also. After all, Toefield does hold the SEC single season rushing TD record, which he set as a FRESHMAN! I think once Toe get fully rehabed and gets his confidence back, he will be a force. As it is now, he is backing up Fred Taylor in Jacksonville, and no doubt getting excellent coaching. He has better size too, being 5-11 and 232 pounds. His last game, he carried 6 times for 28 yards and a 4.7 yard average. As you can probably tell, I really like Toefield. I believe his time will come. Now, having said all that, I REALLY like DD, too. He has a long career ahead of him, and I am very happy for him.
The league I'm in puts more emphasis on receiving than rushing. DD catches more passes. Plus, I got Baltimore's defense and Eric Moulds for Stephen. You want even more eerie? I have Shaun Alexander and DD as my starters with Hambrick on the bench too. Not only that, but I originally had Josh Reed but ended up dropping him to pick up Drew Bennett when McNair started throwing to him a lot.
