He had a girl on her show that was from Baton Rouge. He asked her what she did in BR, and she said that she went to school at LSU. He was like "Ohhh ,LSU, Go Tigers. She said "Yea, that's right." Dave kept saying Go Tigers Go Tigers Go Tigers. It was pretty tight.ldskule:
Way back when, Letterman had a girl that was part of his staff that went to LSU. If memory serves me correctly she was getting married and was leaving the show. During the last week he put her in all kinds of skits because she could make more money. Consequently, Dave know a little about LSU.
David has always had a soft spot for Baton Rouge. In the early eighties, for whatever stupid reason, when he was on channel 33 (NBC), they were going to push him back another hour to broadcast some stupid show and the LSU students rose all kinds of hell about it. Channel 33 finally said they would not push the show back and it got back to Letterman. On the show the nite 33 said the show would stay in the same 11 30 slot, at the beginning and the end of the nite he thanked Baton Rouge.
That happened my freshman year at LSU (Fall of 1983). Before that happened I had never heard of David Letterman. Its been years since I've watched his show.
Hey, you gotta give props to David Letterman . . . he remembers that we did him a favor, and he's not the type to forget that. He is the "True Successor" to the great Johnny Carson. Nobody will ever be close to Carson, but Letterman gets the closest.
CParso, it was a contestant that went into Rupert's Hello Deli. IF you watch the show, you know who Rupert is.
