Happened in Texas. Sounds more like a Florida thing.

(2 March 2014, Netherlands) Two intoxicated men dared each other to test their courage against an intercity train at a Rotterdam train station. At 1800 hours on a Sunday evening, the station was crowded with more than 300 fans returning from a soccer-match.

The two men stepped off the platform and strode forth onto the tracks. One superdaredevil lay down between the tracks, intending to prove that the entire train would pass over him. His friend was less confident and he merely knelt down next to the track and kept his head as close as possible to where he thought the train's profile would be. Turns out that the 130 km/h train that came down the track some seconds later was both lower and wider than they thought. They were killed instantly.

The 300+ onlookers on the platform were none too pleased by the spectacle, and train traffic was interrupted for several hours while authorities cleaned up the mess.

I don't have the link but on July 4th some 21 year old guy decided it would be fun to pop a large firecracker on the top of his head. He was killed instantly when it went off.

Guy in Houston accidentally shot himself in the neck and died while trying to take a selfie with a loaded gun.

Run over by her own car

"After parking his car on the street, Hassapis realized her sedan was moving because she hadn't put it in park, according to Lopez.

"The driveway is on a pretty steep slope, so [Hassapis' sedan] was starting to roll down into the street," he said.

Hassapis got behind her car and tried to stop it but it had picked up too much momentum, police said.

Her car struck her and killed her, according to authorities.

Police said Hassapis' injuries were so severe that first responders didn't have a chance to try to revive her."

I had a co-worker mention to me recently that someone she knew was at a drive-through ATM and wasn't quite close enough to reach the buttons. The woman opened the door a little to lean out and the car started moving (forgot to put it in park). One of those concrete barriers then closed the door on her, causing her to slip and she was run over by her car and died.

When I was a freshman at LSU, I lived at Plantation Trace apts on Highland. The mailboxes were towards the front of the complex and I would drive up to check it (almost) daily. Once, I forgot to put it in park and quickly realized it as the car started moving as I was stepping out of it. Fortunately, I caught up to it quickly and put it in park. That was one moment (of several) that I could have fallen into the Darwin category.

Another is when I was snow skiing with a friend in high school. At the top of one of those triple black diamond slopes, there was a good spot to take a picture of the restaurant and central area below. I was nowhere close to being able to ski down those slopes so I took off my skiis and found a good spot for the pic. I started sliding down a little until I realized I was a foot from potentially tumbling down (it almost went straight down). I probably should have called for help (via my friend) but somehow escaped parallel to the powder snow and eventually got back up.
