Don says this source is rarely wrong, too. Here's Mike Riley's bio (link): http://osubeavers.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/riley_mike00.html Man's done a ton of coaching on both levels, but I'm a little uneasy over how often words like "nice" and "likeable" come up in those testimonials. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Riley turn down and opportunity to meet with Alabama after the Mike Price fiasco?
Please someone with more coaching knowledge than me tell me this is ok. Mike Riley?? This guy might be a *nice* coach, but he is not top tier. I would be pretty let down if this is the case.
hey there dewayne here in bama i am a lsu fan too wife from there reiley was offered the bama job right after fran left then he took too long to respond and called bama ad said he was staying put
Until next year when the next team comes a callin and Saban and Sexton give it their full undivided attention. This is different than the bears for some reason, and I imagine it is b/c it continues to happen. Next year people will have an even shorter tolerance for this.
I did a little more homework on Riley, and I can't believe I didn't know this before: Riley turned down the Alabama job TWICE!! He was offered the job after Coach Fran bolted for A&M and turned it down, which led to Bama hiring Mike Price. Once Price was let go, Riley was offered the job AGAIN, and turned it down again. On one hand, the guy's depth of experience is impressive, his recruiting ability sound, his offensive and QB handling impressive and his character seems admirable; on the other hand, what's he done, really, on the field? CFL titles are nice, sure, but c'mon. Perhaps Riley and LSU could be, much like Saban, where the man and the moment meet...or, in other words, the talent and tradition-rich opportunity Riley's sought his entire career. Oh, and getting bitch slapped during his Charger days and his jump back to Oregon St. should mean his NFL days are done, IMO. Could be he turned down Bama, not because he didn't want to coach in the SEC, but because he wanted only to coach at a school where he could win consistently. We'll see.
It seems that everyone around here has a source that says they know something about what is going on. His source may be right but Ms. Cleo told me that Nick is staying. I have to stick with her because an hour on hold and the $300 I spent says so.
So true. Don't make Saban out to be a patsy here; NFL teams aren't going to approach him if he wasn't approachble to such advances, kind of like guys who'll say, "Hey, how ya doin'?" to the cute girl in the office who always wears skirts shorter than the rest of the women. (Did I just compare Sweater-Boy Saban to a girl in a mini-skirt? How'd that happen?)
People in Russia. Who do you think, people who support LSU. A good many fans will put up with this year in and year out, but at some point many will grow tired of this chirade. Some people on this message board, people in Dandy's circle are voicing concern. It is human nature not to want to be used as a stepping stone when you have any pride in yourself.
